It has been a long, long time since I last posted here. I am not even sure why I came back, but felt I should. Since my last post (what ever it was) much has changed. The biggest change is that I am now a nun. Most people immediately think "catholic nun" but that is not the case. When I tell people I am a Buddhist Nun (yes I am also a Christian) usually people tell me they didn't even know that there were Buddhist Nuns. The order I am in is ecumenical. I have found peace and acceptance and a new family there.

Mother Superior asked me to write (a project I had since set aside) a book about my life and spirituality, for the convent. It is just for the convent and those who feel it might help them. It has not been published anywhere. I found I like writing so I wrote several novice manuals, two blogs and stories.

Most remarkable is the temple I go to. After a lifetime of getting mistreated, from the moment I walked in the door I was welcomed with open arms and nothing but kindness.

True, there are still difficult times and I am sure more ahead. But overall I have found peace.

I just wanted to share this with you all.

Hello Julie,
It must be interesting being a christian buddhist, does that mean you get twice as many holidays to celebrate? Well at least you must be getting riddles to keep you occupied. Umm, Merry Krishnamas (I know, I know, I should be ashamed of myself  )

Hello there,

Thanks for wishing me Merry CHRISTmas. Krishna is not part of Buddhism, but thanks for the thought. As far as being Buddhist is concerned, riddles are only part of Buddhism in trite overdone hollywood television series (can you say "grasshopper"?) There aren't really Buddhist holidays like you are thinking of holidays. And as for being both Christian and Buddhist. Well there is a common saying...

"There are many paths up the mountain, but they all lead to the summit"

No koans and nearly mystical meditation experiences? Aww, darn. There goes another option from my list of possible religions. No, I wasn't in search of "Kung Fu", but I guess I'll have to find a different summit.
