Hi everyone,
My name is Merry.
I'm 32 and I have CAIS. I also recently developed a blog about intersex and AIS so if you are interested please check that out from my profile (as I'm too new to post the link here).
ALSO, Please consider a BOYCOTT of the new movie "Baby Mama" and be warned that there is seriously insensitive joking at the expense of intersexuals, so if you do see it, hopefully you don't get blindsided.
I've posted about my opinions on this in my most recent post on my blog as well.

Hope to get to know many of you and I'd love to make some new friends here.
Take care and love to you all.

[QUOTE=calypsos_daughter;14727]Hi everyone,
My name is Merry.

>>> Hi Merry! yes, we'll be nice. I checked out your link (haven't finished yet though) and the graphics and info are pretty cool (although Wikipedia gets it wrong about us often and refuses to be corrected). Speaking of which....

you have CAH listed as an XY intersexed condition....

CAH affects both male and females in equal numbers as it is an autosomal recessive gene. the 2 most common forms that make up @<hidden>% of CAH (21-hydroxylase and 11-beta hydroxylase) make only females ambiguous.... the guys just get "well endowed" ;)
while there is a form of CAH (3B-HSD) that makes both males and females ambiguous, its exceedingly rare and the male babies seldom live.<<<

I'm 32 and I have CAIS.

>>> cool :) have you checked out the "private" AIS yahoo group? that's where a bunch of AIS women i know retreat to when the rest of us get a little too heated for there taste ;) Ask Miriam or Pamela about it. <<<

Nice to see another new member, welcome to the Body Like Ours Forum.

You might spend some time going through a lot of the older posts, although most topics have been discussed many times before, you might find one thats of particular interest to you, and we could always do with a little refresher or rehashing out on older posts. Lots of views here so you might be a little cautious at times. Sometimes, when a person is in a foul mood, depression, or whatever some pretty strong comments or life histories/tragedies can come out. I hope though you will find the forum a friendly and interesting place to share your thoughts, discuss new ideas, learn new things, or perhaps find a new perspective on improving your's or another persons life.

Thank you for introducing yourself and welcome again to a wonderful new world, where it really is ok to too be open and free to be who you are rather then what you are.

Thanks F. Maria,
I do know about the AIS support circle and I am already a member...but that was considerate to mention.
As for the CAH info on my blog, I altered it a bit, but I am not changing the links from Wikipedia at this point since it appears to be a central location as a simple jumping off point for those that are interested in further info...for anything other than AIS, that I'm not too familiar with I can't be too sure what all of the correct info is without researching each condition extensively and I fear that it will end up with me linking research studies rather than readable summations of the conditions. I think it was a good first effort, but if I get more info and better sources to link to I'll be glad to update...sounds like you have good knowledge, would you like to post there with me? I might consider adding you or anyone else that is interested so that there is more than just my voice on the page.
;)

[QUOTE=calypsos_daughter;14743]Thanks F. Maria,
I do know about the AIS support circle and I am already a member...but that was considerate to mention.

>>> first, NICE pic! your hair is sooo pretty. I'm sooo jealous. :) <<<

As for the CAH info on my blog, I altered it a bit, but I am not changing the links from Wikipedia at this point since it appears to be a central location as a simple jumping off point for those that are interested in further info...

>>> cool. i just get worried that folks will consider it authoritative, but i can see how it would be useful for what you describe.
I send folks to cares.org for medical info about CAH, but i make sure to include the caveat that its run by and for "the crazy CAH parents". LOL <<<

for anything other than AIS, that I'm not too familiar with I can't be too sure what all of the correct info is without researching each condition extensively

>>> true. but i hope you'll have more success correcting there AIS info than i had correcting there CAH info. <<<

and I fear that it will end up with me linking research studies rather than readable summations of the conditions.

>>> a legitimate fear. <<<

I think it was a good first effort,

>>> oh absolutely! i've only the vaguest notion of how to put together a web-page (i'm a hardware and content, not a software; geek) and i like the graphics alot.... readable, but not so flashy that poor Dial-Up folks can't load the page in a minute of so. <<<

but if I get more info and better sources to link to I'll be glad to update...

>>> i'll steer you to some i know. You do know that Esther Leiderhoff (sp?) is the resident expert on MRKH? as a related condition (alot more like AIS than CAH will ever be ;) you definately want to link to MRKH.org <<<

sounds like you have good knowledge,

>>> thanks, i try. <<<

would you like to post there with me?

>>> normally i'd defer to Betsy, but she's AWOL. please PM me about what you have in mind. <<<

I might consider adding you or anyone else that is interested

>>> careful. LOTS of 'posers out there. there info is always half-baked so anyone whose done there homework can see through them, but often not at first glance. <<<
