the blurb was pretty good i thought (not perfect, but better by far than "house" or dr.phil) so any expansion (if not a full hour as promised by the network) can only help if its in the same vein.
Still worth seeing i'm sure.

I actually felt Edin? was very honest and open, and mentioned alot about the issues with her own acceptance, surgery as well, without consent at 15. intimacy issues as well. I would of wished more was mentioned.

Was also nice to see the 11 year old, who was very open as well, i think the show should of talked to her more as well as she could help alot of young CAIS girls learn to cope, understand who they are better.

I was also very happy to see, that the only thing the doctors said, was information on what the standards were for keeping the secret, I was very glad to not hear the repeated statements about doing surgery because "we as doctors, are doing what is best for these children" comment. i swear that one statement kicks me hard everytime i see it, hear it. So I would even say, that I like the doctor they had, as she didnt get defensive about the medical practices most of us have had to endure.

Tonight's ABC news program "Primetime" "Medical Mysteries"
may have been alright as far as it went, I suppose. But I was
disappointed by how it only lasted 20 minutes and how it never
delved into the serious issues (like legal status) which had
seemed implied by promo segments earlier in the day. And for
wasting peoples' time, I apologize.

It isn't really Maria's fault for passing along the overly
enthusiastic information I told her. Just mine, for being silly
enough to believe something I saw on the television.

CAIS are women hun, hell basically regardless of the condition a person has, legal status, of anyone is pretty much up to what the doct's decide to assign you as, and put/adjust on your birthcertificate, or what they put on your corrected birthcertificate. Which for some of the other condition's sucks, cause the only way that is going to change is if we/they chose to reassign to their choosing gender. Basically meaning gonna have to go through all the Trans legal hoops, to fix, correct a bad assignment. <--that was never suppose to happen, as having an intersexed diagnosis, trumped the trans diagnosis, but as there are no laws dealing specifically with recognising an intersexed person's rights to their own body, ya get locked into using what they do have, ie the standards for transitioning.

Now I do believe some states will allow a gender marker change if there is medical evidence to support the claim of being assigned incorrectly, usually a Doctor's statement, notarized or some such, if a doctor is willing to do it that is.

That is a good point that I never really considered. If I chose to switch sides and legally became a man, what would I have to go through to make that legally happen. My medical records clearly state "reassigned" to female. I wonder what legal leg I would have to stand on. I know in some states it's not legal for me to marry a man because of my 46xy. Looks like the legal system pretends we don't exist.

in Washington State, if a doctor can verify your gender, ie documented condition/incorrect assignment/ thats all that is needed to change gender markers. But getting that letter is actually very hard to do, as again, those redacted medical records, are very important. I believe each state has their own rules/regulations. Not sure for myself, how or if It would work, when i talked to the state department of health, the director, all I was told was I just needed a doctors letter explaining the situation, surgeries, but as i am XY/XO don't know if I could get it authorized/approved. I am still looking into my States laws. I would imagine if I was XXCAH, raised male, it would be easier, not sure though.

You might try calling your States Department of Health and asking if they have any information on Gender Marker Change for an intersexed XY raised female, they may have something on the books for changing markers without having to go through all the hassle ie of the HBSC, as we are not TS.

All i can really say, on the subject as I don't really know all that much.

Perhaps that would be fun to try just to see how difficult it would be. If I went through the total process that would really piss my mother off. Just a thought then I could marry a woman in this state now that would be real hoot. Gee with me and my partner that would raise some eyebrows and twist some minds. something to think about. Should I keep my girl name or find a cool boys name? Pat is not a consideration.

here at least, youd still have to be seeing an endo, in the process to change back, kinda thing, with further plans on changing gender. I think there are still issues some standards that are expected, but it is suppose to be a little easier to get the marker changed with verifiable proof of an incorrect assignment, reason for changing back, with scheduled plans HRT, GRS to socially fit in the correct gender.
