I'm through with spammers and part time moderation.
This board needs a better protection against people who try to post links to commercial sites. Posts made by those people should be deleted as soon as possible.

I offered my time and efforts but I was never taken up on my offer to help out. We do need more than one moderator.
I will be honest about this. I have not added additional moderators, because I fear that a new moderator will use the power of being a moderator to promote a particular factional position in the sometimes fierce debates that happen here.
Betsy and I are the two moderators of this forum, and Betsy is not that active at the moment. I generally try to delete posts that are reported as offensive within one day. Miriam has done a wonderful job of reporting offensive posts to me, and I do delete them when they are reported.

Ouch!!! that was not intended to piss you off Peter. Betsy's last post was 12-24-06 that's pushing 2 years now. I know you try but you can't do it all. It was only a suggestion.
I do find it interesting that out of all the members you trust no one. And in your eyes no one it trustworthy enough to give a little help. It is more than clear how you feel about me but I find that statement a bit rude that you don't think very much about any of us. from you statement we are all power hungry intersex activists that will delete anything we disagree with.
But hay, I'm starting to not care anymore. As intersex we are doomed anyway. Our intersex voice that speaks to the world for us and makes decisions for us are coming from everyone except the intersex. Gay people make us a foot note. Trans people are the intersex. Doctors and lawyers want to save us. Television wants the ratings. And now there are a handful of people behind closed doors "the experts" that are trying to rule the intersex world. ( (gee sounds like my doctors deciding what is best for me all over again)
I guess the only person you can trust to moderate is someone that is not intersex.

See, that is why I don't trust you, because you are likely to make off the wall statements at any time. I am not out to rule the intersex world. I have never censored anything that you or Miriam have had to say. However, in the five years that I have been associated with BLO, about the only donations that we have received are from transsexuals, and intersex people who reject their initial sex assignment. So, I mistrust the intersex purists, who talk about their purity all the time, but don't lift a finger to financially support BLO. I have spent thousands of dollars, and many hours supporting the work of BLO. It's a big world out there. Anyone is free to start their own intersex on-line forum, and then get the enjoyment of being rountinely kicked from one end of the forum to the other.

Now Peter ...why do you think this statement has anything to do with you. Is there something we don't know about you?
My comment is not off the wall. The "experts" behind closed doors gave us DSD like we had a choice. that is just one example.
If your comment is directed at me about being truly intersex and not making donations. I would be more than happy to provide you with .pdf files of my medical records and my last three years of tax returns. Some of us intersexed persons are not blessed with the high paying cooperate jobs. I know for me I don't have "the Look" and my attitude does not match that of a natural woman. Womans body with a man's attitude is not a good combination in cooperate land.
also in corporate land I would not succeed fucking my way to the top jobs. I guess that is why I'm broke.
Would a donation help you trust me?
I am sorry if my temper flaired. I have always trusted you to be on the level about your intersex condition. There is no need to send me .pdf files etc. I guess that a limitation of the on-line world is that when we do not meet in person, there is not a chance for the natural bonds that form between friends in real life to develop. I am not hiding anything from anyone. I have close intersex friends in real life. You probably know my story in graphic detail. Thanks for clearing up that by "experts" you meant the DSD people etc. You know that I am not one of them. There is no need to send a donation. We do not even have a bank account at this point. LOL. If Fraulein Maria wants to be a second moderator, I am very open to discussing the possibility. We have spoken on the phone, and I trust her.

I think Miriam would be a great moderator Peter. She is smart and intelligent she appears to have her head screwed on tight. I would trust her to keep things fair. Perhaps she could help with the resent personal attacking that would have never flown with Betsy here. That is my vote if this is a voting thing.
You know if you get someone moderating and they aren't doing a good job you could just replace them as moderator.
I just wish Miriam was better at rebuilding diesel engines then she would get my full support.

I think Miriam would be a good moderator, too. As well as being sensible and mature, she lives in a roughly opposite time zone to Peter, and having moderators in different time zones should give a faster reaction time.
I don't think she needs to be able to rebuild diesel engines. So long as she can do otto-cycle engines and wankel-rotary engines, it should be sufficient.

For anyone who comes here, as long as their looking for intersexed information, understanding, or offering to provide answers or to help in anyway is more then welcome to BLO, I could care less what a person is, even a fake, just as long as they are overall polite. Meaning, anyone can get angry or mad, depending on what is being said or debated. I have no worries or issues when that happens. I know I have started a few arguments myself with some of my comments or thoughts at times too, and i know i am far from perfect, but I also know that The time i have spent here at BLO, is time i think that was beneficial to a whole lot of people. Including myself. I am far from perfect, But i try, I think I help when I can, if I don't know an answer I am at least polite, and will mention someone else to go too, who may have better answers.
I believe that is all any of us need to help each other.
Meanings within meanings: BLO is a great place to help and learn about intersexed condition's and how a person has learned to cope with the condition they are affected with, it is also a great place to learn about other condition's even learn from mistakes too. I think that is what being on BLO has taught me most. We are alll different, and we also have our very own understanding of what being IS means, or better having a BodyLikeOurs.

It doesn't matter if someone else thinks a person is fake or not, It doesn't matter if 1 person doesn't understand how another persons identify's either, It doesn't matter if 1 person approves of another person,of if someone doubts another person's history, all that matters is that If anyone posts here, they do so, to at least help themselves or help others understand what having an intersexed condition's means and how it has affected there lives.
For Peter: i really do think you should ask one of the others, Miriam or Fraulein_Maria to help Moderate, as I really don't think you should be stuck doing it all yourself. I trust both or either to make sound judgements, and truthfully you might think about asking them to only kick people who are abusing the forum rules. the spammers, the real trolls, you know if someone has a ligitimate complaint with someone who is harrassing or trolling for personal information, those might be the only real boot powers that you should think about them concentrating on. you know have them leave all other questionable issues to you. Sorry but I really do feel that Little ol Peter is kinda doing to much, is well too responsible for the wellfair of BLO at the moment. I don't want to add more stress or worries for you, but I do think you should have a cpl of assistants. your taking too much, doing too much right now, I deffinately appreciate your hard work and dedication, but I feel your gonna burn out doing everything by yourself too. Ask someone you trust, have some good faith in, that won't abuse the Power they are given, and again I'd approve of Miriam or Maria, If a few others ever came back and were more active id mention them too. But well there really isnt that many old timers who post alot, offer to help the newer members like they used too.

And even if I would say yes, we still have to see what Peter and Betsy will say.

You know what saierin... I think I like you. Yes after 46 years of shit I would agree that I am jaded but then again who in this life is not jaded in one way or another.
My anger...well... My anger is a lot better than it used to be when I was your age I was in a constant rage. but a lot of that had to do with the HRT.
But now I'm angry about other things typically things that need fixing because stupid people messed it up.

I have even SAID it before that if you don't let your emotions out via the natural route, they build up inside... they morph until they are unrecognisable... then they come out.
sure I give it a new name but when I sit back and think about it, I know that it was a much simpler emotion to begin with :doh:

Thanks Peter you do a great Job being the Moderator, I agree that you shouldn’t have to take it on alone, I vote; Miriam, Kailana, Fraulein_Maria. All three come across as knowledgeable, polite and are understanding of others.
I’d like to share a hear-filled thank you to you all for having supported me over the past few months, I wish you all the best and apologise for anything I may have done or said to upset anyone, I retract me being PAIS I have androgen insensitivity but the condition has no name medical records that state Testicular feminization syndrome n KS are inaccurate. Yes I was born with ambiguous genitals but no gene has yet been found on the Y or X chromosome,
I have much psychological n emotional issues to resolve n I struggle with anger these days too

Hi Anis,
I try to do my best to do a decent job of being a moderator. As I have been isolated much of my life, my people skills are not very good, so being a moderator does not come naturally to me. I want Bodies Like Ours to be a safe place, where people can get intersex information and peer support. We have recently had difficult times around here, but I hope that things will settle down, and we return to our core support tasks. I am reminded that both my brother and sister fought constantly when I was growing up, even as I loved them both.
I wish you luck on sorting out your situation. I realize that lack of records, doctors who often withhold the full truth, the high expense of medical testing, and the incomplete state of medical knowledge, often stand in the way of getting satisfying answers.

WoW, y'all. I've read through these postings about moderators and trust issues. It's sad, but I guess it has to be worked out. I was hoping to find a place to touch base with other folks outside our little community here in southeast Ohio. But I don't get a feeling of openness, acceptance, caring for anything beyond personality issues. True it is that we have different challenges in that regard, but everybody has issues. It seems to me that the issues are more of a squabble than of cooperative exchanges of contributive ideas and thoughts. I had been considering asking to be considered as a moderator. I'm gonna let that one go; too much negative drama energy.
Thank you, Peter, for having added my account, but unless there are positive changes to this forum site I think it is healthier to just stay away. There are many balanced, generally anger-free intersexed people our little college town; people who accept themselves, who no longer blame doctors, parents and society for their own issues, who have seen the glorious opportunity given us by our situation in life, and who have embraced themselves as who they are, where they are, and when they are. Why they (we) are means nothing in the long run. What we do with this life, and how we contribute love to all people is far more significant to us. (I hope that doesn't sound condescending or self-righteous. It's not intended that way. It is just a statement of what is around this part of the world.)

Megan, it looks like you are looking at posts a year old. In the week or two I've been here, I haven't seen too much hostility, or paranoia (besides my own) If the conversations could use improvement, why not stay and help improve them?

Hi Megan,
I hope that you can get something positive out of this forum. Where is this little college town that you speak of that has many openly self-accepting intersex people living there? What you write is a real eye-opener to me, and so different than even the San Francisco Bay Area, that for all its progressive aspects, does not have that many openly self-accepting intersex people. It seems that, as you say, where you live presents "glorious opportunity" to live a good life.

seriously, while i may have some serious issues with doctors and my parents. Locally I am the only person who is out and open about being intersex.
Nice peacefull small city barely larger then a town, also alot of schools, mixed agricultural and technology based economy. Generally I am well accepted by all except for the medical community.
I am curious about where in the world you happen to be calling from as well. the very few people I do know locally have told me they have never told anyone anything ever, until I had opened their eyes and they understood how much shame they were actually live with. So I do know a few local intersex people now and that is only because I am very open about the conditions I have.
another thing is having someone with no history in this forum come along and offer to be a moderator would be foolish for the current mods to accept because they dont know you either. Now if they knew you from another sight I could easily see possibly adding someone as a mod if they had a known credible history suppporting all the many different interests of the many different people we have.
we never always agree on everything, too many different life experiences for all of us to completely understand every else. but some of us do try very hard too do so.
