View Full Version : A personal question looking for opinions.
OK, here's my, kind of, embarrassing question, of which I've never really gotten a straight answer about. As I've said before, I was born somewhere around a grade 5 to a high 4 depending on scale used to define. Surgery at birth, some purely cosmetic (AKA "just cut it off, it's too big for a normal clitoris") and some medically necessary urethral work. Definitely not CAIS, so the sparse hair that I have "downstairs" is normal. My question is, since I have that hair, why haven't I ever had underarm hair?
Personally doesn't make any sense to me because I thought they both came from testosterone at puberty and obviously enough was getting through for one -- wouldn't that be a package deal?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about this, it is truly one of the symptoms of AIS that for me rocks and makes my girlfriends jealous; but, I'd still like to know the "why."

>>> because pubic hair follicles do not require a great deal of sensitivity to test. to be stimulated. it is the first hair to grow at puberty, not axillary hair.
old women do not need to shave there "pits" every other day (or every 3)like young women... once a month will do... but they'll have pubic hair down to there knees if there not inclined to shave. <<<

LMAO!!! :D

I KNEW IT! That's why I have such a hard time in sports! :omg_smile My T level (as well as estrogen) is way below normal and I have heard that T is a factor in muscle strength and recovery. I am on HRT for estrogen but can't take any T - would be considered a "performance enhancing drug" - go figger!
(I have no body hair AT ALL except for some sparse hair in the southern parts. I couldn't muster enough fuzz to keep a peach modest and been that way all my life. I don't even own a razor!)

>>> there are ways around that ;)
first, the t. they test for is not natural testosterone (prevents false positives) it is HORSE testosterone.
there are ways to increase your natural t. level (and your tissues are sensitive enough to bother)...
try taking OTC, perfectly legal, DHEA pills :)
your body will convert it to test. rather easily. :) it will just as easily eliminate it there after, so its not gonna build up much... but you don't want it to... not really, anyway.
another thing is OTC progesterone cream. if your deficiant (like me, and i suspect AIS'ers) it has positive effects aside from what else it can do.....
which is to be converted to androgens. Its not as efficient as DHEA, most of it will stay progesterone, and be used as progesterone....
AND since progesterone is the precurser to a half dozen OTHER hormones....
like cortisol, aldosterone, etc. your body will turn the excess into whatever your bod happens to need at that time, which makes it a whole lot safer to use than either androgens or estrogens.
I often think that the reason that it is not prescribed more often (at least in the US) is that the pharmacutical companies think they can't make much money off of it....
which is rather stupid. they manage to make plenty of money off of aspirin.. in fact, that actually make more money on OTC drugs that they market at over 1000 times its actual cost (no, i'm NOT exaggerating the mark-up) than on presciption drugs.
*sigh* someday.....
