Thank you both for answering my other threads.

Meadow, I know that you own and ride horses and I think that you Maria own horses as well.

I've meantioned here that I also grew up riding/going to horse shows and owned a horse as well.

I gave that all up 20 years ago but recently decided to get back into it and went to differnt barns besides calling different barns to get the feel of the place before I spent my money.

I picked a place that had a focus of Arabians, Morgans and Quarter Horses as that is what I grew up with and I owned an Arabian pony during my late teens.
During that time I dabbled in back yard Dressage show and loved trail riding but always wanted to try Western and Country English Pleasure ( a form of Saddle seat) and thus my reason for picking the barn that I went to for a riding lesson.

I got to ride western on a world class semi -retired quarter horse ....sweet and was told that I was a relaxed rider and would be allowed to ride the other two quarter horses with more pep.

Even though I found out that trail riding wasn't an opption at this barn even though it was meamtioned on the web site and that the lesson time started with grooming the horse and not when you got in the saddle .....I mean a $50.00 lesson for 45 minutes and part of that time was spent grooming and saddling???? but still I wanted to stay until the instructor looked me in the eye for the first time....squinted and stated that this is a family barn. I was like where did that come from and what did she imply? Any comments on what she meant by this is a family barn? Would my money be better spent at this other barn that is next to some trails that I found even though they are only Hunter/Jumper.

I just spent $50.00 to ride in a really small ring for 30 minutes and she laughed that she was just going to let me do whatever for the first time out. I was really interested in getting an Equatation lesson instead as I'd never had one for Western riding.
I did meantion that I picked her over another place that seemed more geared to kids. She made a point of meantioning twice about kids at her barn.

Does it seem like I'm at the wrong place?
It made me wonder when she squinted inside the shade of the barn and went out of the blue that this is a family barn. What does that mean?

Also, I only wanted/could afford two lessons a month and maybe that wasn't worth it to her?

thanks
