Hi Aseras,
I know her from elsewhere, and she is no spammer, but I'll let her introduce herself when she's ready.

Ok....I'm ready. I was a DES baby....my destiny was to have been male...but due to my endocrine system being disrupted...and the resulting feminization, I was blessed with low testosterone, low sperm count, small genitalia, relatively smooth & hairless body, very light beard/facial hair, pretty short (I'm 5'5"), numerous periods of impotence, , gender confusion from the get-go...and a female brain. (In approximately the 8th week of pregnancy...a surge of testosterone causes the brain to differentiate into a male one...I never got that surge). My hormone levels fluctuated between low male & low female.
DES (diethylstilbesterol) was prescribed to prevent miscarriage in pregnant women from appr. 1938-1971. Exposure in utero not only induces a barrage of estrogen...disrupting the the endocrine system...but also suppresses testosterone (DES is still used today to treat prostate cancer...due to its power as an anti-androgen.)
Numerous male children...who were exposed to DES...have been discovered to have various degrees of an "intersexed" condition (in some cases...while external genitalia...often quite small, are male...a partial uterus has been discovered, usually during SRS.)
I've suffered from chronic depression all my life..& discovered recently, in my research into DES, a documented causal relationship with DES exposure. Added to the issue of my body being "broken"...didn't work!...my life was pretty much hell on earth.
On Sept 16 of last year, I underwent a vaginoplasty...achieving a balance that I never thought I could experience. My body 'works' now...I can feel things...achieve orgasm (Thank you, Lord)...I've got the shot at a happy life I never, ever, thought I would get.
Hello, everybody.

Hi Boardwalk Angel,
This DES baby wants to welcome you to the forum. I'm glad you made it here. :) That's a great explanation you gave on what DES did to us. I'm in the process of getting that book you recommended to me with the chapter on DES. I just ordered it along with some others on intersex, so I should be getting it soon.
Hugs,
Laura
