Hi. My name's Kaitlyn and I'm 16 years old. I found out I was intersex yesterday, although I'd been struggling with whether I was or wasn't. My genitalia looks different than most females do. I have these sac like structure that hang down from my clitoris, kind of like testicles but empty. But I wasn't sure I was intersex because I still menstruate. But now that I know, I want to learn more about it.

welcome Kaitlyn.

May I ask how it is that you found out? was it a parent or doctors?

i would hope that it was your parents first, though they may not know everything, i just hope they well talked to you.

If it was a doctor, then you might want to talk to him/her again to get a better understanding of the cause. He/she may know in detail what is going on.

Now that said, Some here may be able to help, but without knowing you or your medical records we would just be guessing.

I do hope one of us can find some answers for you, or you can share a bit more, not so much about your anatomy, but about your condition if you know what it is?

Welcome Kaitlyn,

I'm glad you found us. Feel free to post, as we are here to help. What did the doctors say about a diagnosis? Did they want to do more testing?

Hi Kaitie!

Send me a PM and let me know where you are located. We do have some resources and contacts here in Canada and may be able to get you referred to some of the more knowledgeable people.

Hi Kaitie welcome. Glad you found this place so easily. I hope you find your answers. Don't feel pressured. Get plenty of opinions, don't take one persons word for it. Just because you look different doesn't mean you have to fix it. Be glad you are functional, that's usually the most worrisome aspect. Just go slow and make the decisions for yourself.

:sign16:

just take it slowly and don't be afraid to ask you doctor loads of questions... about everything... and don't worry about getting them to re-explain everything again, it's amazing how you find out more and more details each time they do it.
