Hi All, I thought I'd leave this post here to see if anyone might be interested in working with me.

My name is Emily and I write true stories for publications in the UK - newspapers and magazines. These often focus on an issue or something someone has been through and overcome. The aim is always to help readers who might be going through a similar thing, inspire them or direct them to people and organisations who can support them.

I realise this isn't for everyone - you would need to be happy to talk openly about what you have been through. But, I can assure you that your story would remain under your control. It would be read back to you before publication and nothing would go ahead without your approval.

You would also be paid.

To find out more - completely confidentially - email me at emretter@<hidden>

I look forward to hearing from you

I'm a UK journalist and write true stories for women's magazines and the national newspapers.

I work with people who have an inspirational or moving story to tell and want to share it with readers in order to help them and direct them to the best support.

More than anything, telling your story can help show people that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that difficulties can be managed or overcome.

If you would like to find out more about telling your story - what it would involve, the pitfalls, the process - then drop me a confidential email to emretter@<hidden>

I look forward to hearing from you

Hi, my name is Emily and I write stories about people's personal experiences for the national press in the UK.

I like to interview people who have conquered or are conquering something difficult such as an intersex condition and who wish to help other people who might be going through the same thing, but don't know how to go about getting help and support.

These 'real life' stories are positive and inspirational, the aim being to help readers.

I wondered if any of you might be interested in speaking to me? Obviously this is not for everyone - you would need to be willing to speak openly about what you have been through or are going through - but nothing is done without your approval, and any story written is approved by you before it is published.

You are also paid.

If you would like to find out more email me at emretter@<hidden>

Definitely not for everyone. People should think long and hard before considering your proposal. Not just about the reprocussions to themselves, but to their families and loved ones.

I have just experienced how my words can be edited twice by others to show what they think is relavent.

Which totally missed the mark.

For all I would be carefull, the media can be cruel even when they don't mean too be.

just becarefull i doubt I will do again in any format other then my own. At least this way people will see and here or read my own words unedited I hope others think carefully before venturing into anything similar.

It can hurt when others take what is freely given and edit it to suit thier needs.

And they will always do that.

It's true, too many journalists write a story and only contact you to fill in the quotes for an article they have already written. This is especially true for members of the writing press. Free lance journalists seem to do this even more often because they can only sell their content if it is 'special' enough.

But it's not just the journalist. The person interviewed is also responsible.

I'm a journalist and I've noticed people start a diarrhea of words as soon as they see a microphone and a camera. The best way to prevent media from publishing the more sensational parts of your story is by not telling those details.

When a journalist wants to use your story for a 15 minute item, you must be prepared to tell your story in 10 minutes. Stick with what you want to say. You can tell your story in other words but never add anything new to it.

I would be very cautious about this. The only positive thing that may come from this is more exposure of my case. Having spent the past 10 years visiting hospitals in the US and UK and have yet to find a satisfactory diagnosis. Doctors unwilling to investigate further and dismissing my concerns as physicological. It's been left up to me to find out what's wrong. Seeing the documentary "I am my own twin" on the Discovery channel gave me more insight to chimerism, which I believe is what I have. Having my story in the media would get more publicity and may get the attention of doctors who would be willing to take on my case.
