I have been taking testosterone capsules namely, andriol.

There is shorter version of my "HRT"s
after 0-4 or 5 yrs old, dexometasone untill i was 12 or 14.
my parent used to give it to as "pills for you to grow"

Next! 15-17 ethynilestradiol pills (those pills are called you will have baby in future...) + testicles and my natural testosterone

from 17 to 26 now no testosterone, since gonadectomy ....

then i had about 8 yrs of irresponsible(some times i was taking synestrol some times not, once or twice a month maybe) estrogen therapy.

So, now I am on testosterone almost 4 month, i knew it was what needed and I am happy with that.

But I have problems like bones are clicking some times i feel pain if i walk long. I am still physically Ok, but the sound, when i sit or stand is kinda wierd. I had it before too but not before 17.
Actually i started notising it when i had to stop taking andriol cos of some finacial problems for almost 12 days. i feel very good, i developed muscles, hair etc. The sounds are like my bones are breaking.

Olim, I am curious. How hard was it to stop taking dexamethasone after being on it for 8-10 years?

It wasn't hard actually, I guess I started loosing weight after i stopped taking it.
it has whole bunch of side effects at the beginning of dexamethasone therapy.

I can understand how for a normal person, taking a corticosteroid would become dependent, because they are essentially shutting down thier adrenals entriely. So they become depenedent on it becuase their body can't keep up until they are weaned off. They just get a taste of what it is like for someone with CAH or broken adrenals.

For someone with CAH, I don't think the effect would be as bad, because they already didn't have enough corticosteroids.

>>> like becoming completely steroid dependent, which is why good endo's won't prescribe it unless there positive you have CAH..... because taking dex for over a year is nearly as good (or bad) as having an adrenalectomy. <<<

Again I have questions.

So could 2 pills of dexametasone a day show side effects like having facial hairs at the 5-7 years? I guess after those side effects doctors reduced the dosage to 0.5 a day.

And as I understand right in case of CAH docs usually prescribe dexometasone for long time right? Is their main idea to shut the adrenals down? do they do any hormone theraphy after they shut the adrenals down?

In my case, practically if was taking dexometasone for 10 years, my adrenals might be already dead right?

If adrenal were shut, gonadectomy performed, and not taking any hormones, what is the effect ? would there be any showing secondary sexual characteristics? As I know, when there is no testicles, because of adrenals, body keeps showing some sexual development right?

Just wanted to figure out, if my adrenals shut down :-(
Cos of those bad people... :-(

Again question.

So I talked to woman who is more knowledgeable in this aspect than me.
I have no Idea what does it stand for but she said in english DHEAS shows the activities in adrenals.

DHEAS - result 3.8
Reference 0-11.0 umol/L
in my results

As she said, i would be dead if my adrenals would be dead. So they are functioning!

But before, I gave hard time to my mother asking her when did i start dexomethasone and when did i stop it. She said that she stopped goinig the drug after side effects showed up and i was hospitalized even though doctors prescribed it.

I guess I have to call my mother and apologize of my ignorance.

Thanks everyone.

Olim, the fact that you had facial hair at 5-7 is likely why you were put on dex;
most likely you had precocious puberty and dexamethasome was used to stop your early puberty symptoms, and eventually would of typically had a dosage adjustment or weened off as you got older so you would have a normal puberty. Or at least that is what your doctors might of had planned. It is very hard to say trying to figure out years later the why's and what's of what we have taken or been exposed too.

now as your on HRT again, you shouldn't get anyworse but I would imagine both your bone and cartilage has suffered without.

you might try talking to your doctors, and asking about glucosamine condrotine with MSM or any other suppliments, they typically are over the counter but I tend to prefer people talk to doctors first, so they at least know what your on. Not the glucosamine chondrotine is dangerous or anything, ie osteobyflex, any of the over the counter joint relief ie cartilage support herbal suppliments can help alot with those bone aches and cramps.
