Before I go into too much detail on myself I think I should first say that I am not intersexed. I didn't see anywhere whether it would be all right for me to join or not but I hope it is. ^.^'
Admittedly, I knew very little about intersexed conditions (let alone the word itself!) until about a year ago when I was doing research for a possible presentation for my Women's Biology class. Of course, the term covers far too many conditions for me to cover in that 5 minute presentation so I ended up having to go with a different topic but I have been attempting to continue broadening my horizons ever since.
At some point in my research I came across michakailana's YouTube channel and I have been very grateful for what she has taught me. I actually found out about Bodies Like Ours through one of her videos as well.
In addition to wanting to better educate myself, I also have three daughters (Victoria - 9, Galatea - 6 and Sakura - 3) that I wish to lead in the right direction. Even though I am not "gathering research" anymore I do hope I can collect some advice here as to how best to educate my daughters on the subject.
I also have 3 cats and a truly wonderful boyfriend. I'm a full-time student at UWSP with hopes of being an independent artist at some point in the future. I'm a vegetarian and I'm fairly obsessed with all things from Japan.
At this point, to be honest, I have to say that I feel like a bit of an invader since I'm popping into an area meant to be a safe haven for people with conditions I can only imagine what are like. So, if only to make myself feel like I'm standing on more equal ground, I'd like to share my own unusual secret with you.
I have a condition called Dissociative Identity Disorder. Most people are more familiar with it by the name it used to be called - Multiple Personality Disorder. I don't want to go into too much detail and make my introduction post more about it than anything else but I am willing to answer any questions anyone may have. When my first daughter was born, I had to come to terms with my disorder very quickly so I've accepted it enough by now to discuss it with others.
Anyhoo, It is a pleasure to meet you all. :)
(Sorry for the wall of text!)
