I'm curious as to why you picked this topic and your knowledge on it?

I would like to thank you in advance for trying to learn about intersex conditions and maybe by doing this when you come across someone with an intersex condition you will be of benefit unlike the one doctor that after I told him that I have Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia mistook that for Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. I had to explain the differences to him and wanted to key his Porsche on the way out ..kidding. I'm sure someone with AIS might get annoyed if it was confused with CAH also.

If you are in the emergency room would you know what medication to help someone with Congenital Adrenal hyperplasia that is in adrenal insufficiency/ adrenal crisis due to the physical stress of illness or operation and may die or are you just going to focus on the ambiguous genitals that they may of had at birth? Not everyone with CAH has genitals that match the intersex condition anyway. Men with CAH don't have that but instead rather well endowed from the excessive androgens and only 1 in 8 girl babies with CAH are born with external genitals that aren't standard but all of us can die from adrenal crisis. As a pre-med student, I thought you should at least be made aware of the above and I don't mean any offense. I can't tell you how many times I've dealt with med-students and doctors that satisfied their own curiousity only to ignore or minimize the reasons that brought me to the ER or Doctors office in the first place.

Do you know any of the names of the medical conditions that may cause the charateristic of intersex genitals and/or mixed chromosomes and the medical reasons why?

Do you know the reasons why good/or bad that some of the surgeries are done?

Say someone is born with an intersex condition whereas testing has determined that they only have female chromosomes or only male chromosomes. Would you feel as a doctor that you owe it to the child to help them acheive having a genotype that matches their phenotype? or making sure that child doesn't have trouble with the discharge of a period? Do you feel surgery needs to be a case by case basis?

I hope Besty feels that this post was polite to you and I really mean it to be. My reasons for writing were that I didn't feel that your post went into enough detail as to the reasons for your request. Again, no offense but I'm just curious.
