Hey Beach,
Nice comment to your customer over the bra. I think I would have taken it personal also.
Hpwever, for every one of us that exists, there are a dozen uneducated, screwed up, and just plain folks that like to shoot their mouth off about things they know nothing of, and the worst part is, they think they do.
I have personally run into this before in my work, and all I have found that works best is to set back, be the bigger person for it by having the CORRECT KNOWLEGE and smile. Usually the smile without saying anything goes a long way with them getting the hint, and it ends.
Unfortunately, my friend, this will not likely be the only time in your life that this will happen. Everybody has a belief, wether right or wrong, and we have to live with it.
The big difference though, is the you know you're right, know what you are, and can live with it with dignity. Better than the jerk did.
Best of Luck to you,
Phil

I kind of had the same situation today... i went to my dermatologist to get some stuff burnt off, and they had to give me a shot before that. and i HATE needles.. well anyways.. like he was giving me the shot, and i was screaming kuz it was one of those pain medicine ones.. and those always hurt the worst. and he was just like "well this is nothing, has your mom talked to you about having babies.. oh boy this is nothing" i started bawling.. so did my mom.. and i yelled at the guy to shut the hell up. i felt really bad.. but i just couldn't hold it back.. he was shuving a needle in me which already hurt so bad.. and then he said that. i feel horrible for saying that... but how do i deal with that? i guess it will come easier over time.. but still. how have you guys delt with people talking about getting pregnant and babies and sex and stuff? just wondering.. thanks for listening

Hey Beach,
Imitation is the best type of flattery in my book ;)
Good work...I too get kind of upset with the ones who have no clue what it means, and what it is like to live in a body like mine. Sometimes I say something, sometimes I don't. It depends on how feisty I am feeling at the moment.
Keep up the good work.
Betsy

Don't feel bad, Renee. Sometimes they need to hear that.

I had a good one a number of months back when I wrote my childhood endo and questioned the medical protocol for us. She had noticed that my last name was now different from when I was a child and simply assumed that I was married and was gushing about how great that is.
In her eyes, that made me a formerly IS person, surgically fixed up all nice and pretty for a guy. LOL...I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when she read my reply about how I was really a happy IS lesbian and that I would be sure to send her best regards to my partner.
The name I simply changed about 15 years ago because I wanted to.
I know your situation is different, but the base is the same:
When that happens it is often up to you to educate and speak up against their preconceived assumptions.
