Hi,
My name is Jeanne and I was born with PAIS in 1958. I was given the "corrective:mad: " surgery when I was 8 weeks old. I was never told the truth. I was raised as a female but grew up knowing that I just didn't fit that very well. I had the typical intersexed history of lies, shame, fear, and pain. I am now 44 years old. I was surfing the Internet one day about 4 years ago. I typed the word "intersexed" into the browser and my life changed. I met up with people with the same condition, became educated, got my medical record and joined a wonderful internet support group called AISpeople2 on Yahoo. Today, my fear is gone (mostly) and I am no longer ashamed of my gender variation. I now know about 60 people around the world with intersexed conditions and no longer feel alone.
The best news of all is, in about 6 months I will be adopting an intersexed 3 year old "boy" from China. There is still a chance that it won't happen but everything looks very good. I am really excited. This is a dream come true for me. He is a beautiful healthy child.
I am really happy to be here. I just found this web site last week. I can't wait to get to know all of you.
Love,
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,

Congratulations on your upcoming adoption. It's very kewl that you are adopting one of "us". Each one of us is so special and that special child has no idea of the wonderfulness you will certainly bring him.
