Yippee for me :),

After doing alot of researching, and discussing it with my Dr. I've just recently been switch from Prednisone, to Hydrocortisone (Cortef), which I'm like super happy about, because of it's lower steroidal effects, and because so far, after only like five days I've noticed a difference, mostly in my sinuses.

My dose for Hydrocortisone is 20mg in the morning, 5 mg around noon, and 5 mg before bed. With prednisone, I had gotten used to what I needed to adjust my dosage for when I was sick and etc... but I'm kinda blind as far as how much to change it. My Dr's not and endro (sadly), but she is an awesome Dr, and while I'm not concerned with changes from anything serious, cause that has to be monitored at hospital, and etc.

 I'm just wondering how other girl (and, do we have any here?, boys) with C.A.H., who are on Hydrocortisone, adjust your dosage to when you get sick. Ya know colds, flu, infections, and stuff like that.

My Dr. recommended starting with going up to like 7.5 mg at noon the next time I get sick, and if doesn't help, going up to 7.5 mg at noon and night. Which I'll do, unless anyone can give me some better ideas, cause we're both blind (my Dr and me) about what exactly I'll need to do. So it would be like a ton of help if anyone could tell me what you adjust your regimen to when you get sick.

Thanks a ton,
Katie

I did horrible on it as an adult. I had some serious weight gain (about 30% of my normal weight) and big time acne. Initially I felt really good from it but I think it was simply the change and way it acted in my body. It was several years ago...15 probably...so I don't recall what I did for illness.

I've been back on prednisone since then and it fits me quite fine.

I would start small...maybe 5mgs for a cold and see how it makes you feel and then go from there. Or more...it's not like you will ever take too much.
