Hey guys. Haven't been to endocrine yet as things are pretty hectic.. I have been off the pill for about 4 years. Maybe longer didn't keep track. Fell in love got married etc.. Started gaining weight like crazy. Didn't change a thing... I am 31 now. Then my hair started getting real thin. Not receeding but like breaking off before it could grow out. Hub wanted me to grow it out and can't to my best efforts. When i was on the pill I could color my hair now it just fries instantly.. It's not what I am using either.. weird
Tingling in my feet that comes n goes. Having alergic reactions which I thought were from a spider bite and maybe they are but real weird. Giant welts on me and now I am allergic to things at random and have never been allergic to anything ever.
Also my temperature is always below normal.. Getting to where I can't think or concentrate. I know these are all hypothyroid symptoms... So I joined a Hypothyroid group and started reading everything I can...
Well I came across this intersex journal site and just started reading..
I am 6ft tall no one else in my family is... Never been pregnant and really should have been. My periods since i went off the pill are like maybe one day.
Then I was reading about the different kinds of xx xy etc.. and I think those lumps in my labia majora are now testicles... What would that be? AIS? CAIS? They have always been there it's like they are underdeveloped. I always knew they were there and they were never sore so I didn't bother to worry about them.
Also though I have milk in my breasts used to squirt across the room but now really just there if squeezed. I was checked via MRI for pituitary tumor and nothing was there.
Oh yea and I think I had a hotflash in the store the other day... Totally covered in sweat and couldnt cool down. People started staring at me etc.. I am a terrible sleeper and often times just lay awake watching TV or sleep for an hour and am up the rest of the day no problems.
Some weird things are... I am always been a very tall attractive female but my mom got me on the pill before I even started my period. which I thought was kind of weird. I assumed she didnt want me to get pregnant but I had no boobs until then and of course filled out nicely.. You would think my dad would have tripped out about getting on the pill at such a young age but they just did it and never talked about it.. Did they know I had to be exposed to estrogen or something?
I have always been attracted to both sexes.
So anway.. If and I am pretty sure they are testicles in my labia majora on both sides what do I say to endocrinologst when I go to make an appointment?
hello I need to get in there I think I might have balls?
Oh yea I forgot to mention.. I am completely unable to lose weight.. If I fast I can drop about 10 lbs but that is it. I get stuck and even being in ketosis won't drop it.

Anyway this is all new to me and I have been reading message boards and a lot of that stuff hits home for me.
Oh yea a big one... This is pretty weird..
Since I went off the pill my husband has almost completely lost interest in sex with me. he's fully funtional and likes women and porn and everything normal but this is making me think that his body somehow knows something is up. When I was on the pill it was completely different.
I don't attribute it to weight gain because even before i had gained the 40 lbs I carry now it just shut off like weird.
Is that possible? Something about the estrogen triggered male sexual stimulation?
No idea...
Always been a tom boy. Dont like hanging with the chicks.. Unless they are all drunk and well lets just leave it at that... LOL Always bought guys jeans... Until recently. I wear my shoes like a guy. Always have never questioned it. I hang out in garage with hubby and his greese monkey pals..
Oh yea and my sex drive.. always been in high gear. It's like that's all I think about. When we go out I'm thinking of getting laid.. It's the first and foremost thing on my mind. And I don't want to feel that way. I understand it's wrong to think of people like that etc.. I just can't get it out of my head. constantly excited through-out the day.
Anyway I read here that it can be from a mothers exposure to estrogen or other endocrine toxins that make you this way.
kindred spirit site I can't post links yet LOL
Would this be 46xy?
This post is pretty long already
Anyway, any insight or tests or help and what to ask for would be greatly apprecaited.. Oh yea I have an HMo so I have to try and get half assed family doc to give me a referral to a specialist and no way am I wanting to tell him about this.. You know how everyone wants to treat their own freak etc..
What do I tell him.. That I think I have hypothyroid and just want a referral and don't want him to treat me? Is there a better way to put that?

I'm not a doctor, so I can't help you with getting a diagnosis. But one thing is for sure: with AIS you would not have periods. But there are many other possibilities... And if you don't have AIS, your body will respond to testosterone. That means that if those lumps would be normal testicles, the testosterone they would produce, would give you serious problems with facial hair... In other words, I think that the lumps are probably not testicles. But you should discuss this with your doctor. I guess he or she can help you much better than I can do now.

See if you read this though it says labia testes and scant body hair.. I just don't want to walk in there not knowing what I am talking about.
b. Complete androgen insensitivity (CAIS) is characterized by the development of female external genitalia and failure to masculinize the Wolffian system in a subject with a 46XY karyotype. Inguinal or labial testes may be palpable, although they may only be discovered during exploration of an apparent inguinal hernia. The vagina is short due to secretion of MIS by testicular Sertoli cells. Increased testicular stimulation by elevated gonadotropins at puberty results in normal or elevated testosterone levels to which the subject is nonresponsive. However, the peripheral aromatization (P450arom; Fig. 3) of testosterone and androstenedione in skin and adipose tissue leads to normal or elevated levels of estrogens (estradiol and estrone) which promote female breast development when unopposed by androgen action. Sexual and body hair is scant. If the diagnosis is not made before puberty, primary amenhorrea or infertility may be the presenting complaint. Additional studies may include in vitro androgen receptor binding measurements, hCG stimulation of testicular androgen secretion, or assessment in vivo of testosterone effect. The abnormality lies with a molecular defect in the X-chromosomal androgen receptor gene causing an abnormality in receptor function.
Article from andrology society i can't post links yet..
So it is possible and it is a real thing...

I forgot that I read you can have a partically developed uterus... So it is possible to have a period.. It's just a sucky one..
Some either have no uterus or have testes in abdomen..
At least that is how I am interpreting this...

I wonder if there's any chance you might have Cushing's Syndrome? That would be one to see a doctor for, it's a life threatening illness.

If you are looking for a 101 on AIS, you should read this (http://www.medhelp.org/ais/21_OVERVIEW.HTM) article. More information on the related conditions can be found here (http://www.medhelp.org/ais/24_RELATED.HTM).

*You may change your family doc if you aren't happy w/ services.

*You could tell the family Doc that you want to see a specialist for the thyroid and nothing more. it has nothing to do with his medical treatment.

*asking a gynecologist about the lumps?

*If you see an endo, the referal will state why you are there- you mentioned Hypothyrodism and you could bring up the lumps during consult.
