My name is Elizabeth. I am a student at Lindenwood University and I am in need of an opinion. My paper is on the surgical removal of ambiguos genitalia and I am supposed to argue a point. My question is: Should parents of intersex infants have their ambiguous genitalia surgically removed or should the parent wait and let the child grow up and make the decision about the surgery for themselves. I Believe this question would be better answered by people who have either had to make the decision for themselves or people who have not been allowed to make this decision. You can email me at at any time. You do not have to give me a name and I will make sure that all annonymity is kept safe. Anyone who wants one, weather or not the help me decide which was i argue, can email me and I will send them a copy of the paper. Please email me and let me know a few things. The most crucial one is what side you believe in. Should parents make the decision or should they wait and let the individual choose for themselves. The other thing Id like to know (and if you dont feel comftorable telling me, its ok!) is weather or not that decision was left for you to make. Thanks for any help that can be given. I really appreciate it!

Elizabeth

hi i am not intersex, but a strong ally of the community. i believe doctors nor parents should be able to make this decision on behalf of a child. the child may grow up feeling happy being intersex and if not they can decide on surgery one way or the other to fit their gender identity as they are mature.
