View Full Version : Information Overload
I find myself diving into these texts and websites about intersex and only become more confused. So many definitions, so clinical and impersonal. Perhaps it's that I'm trying to understand too much too quickly? I've been to isna.org, browsed this site and other sites only to be left thinking, "I know less about this than when I started!" I want to understand. Am I just ignorant or is the information available on the web so sketchy and technical that it takes a degree in medicine to understand?
Is there such a variance to each individual? Sorry for the battery of questions...

No, you are not ignorant. It is sketchy and it is technical. It is the result of decades of the medical community treating us like medical oddities without a soul.
BTW, welcome to Bodies Jesse.

It really is a shame that humanity has to be so ignorant and prejudiced buy something not understood (or, in this case, MISunderstood). So many missed opportunities. Wonder if we will ever mature beyond this pettiness.
Anyway, I was reading on one site about the xxy (FS?) chromisone result. At first, they were saying that it is not considered intersex but 'normal.' Then it said after a back and forth 'yes it is' 'no it isn't' it actually is intersex. This makes it even MORE confusing.
I guess one of my real questons is, are intersexed persons men or women, niether or both? Is it more a personal decision? I would think that would be more confusing. Also, is it the PHYSICAL make up that determines sexuality and gender? All this has even made me wonder what I am! Although I do have male sex organs, I've been told that I'm more sensitive and understanding towards a woman than most men. And it's true, I find I can at least empathise with a woman while other men stand by looking all dazed and confused.
