We've been contacted by a professor of psychology from KS State University looking for a speaker. It's an undergrad level course. These little speaking opportunities go a long way in making change happen, so if you are able to accomodate him, it would be much appreciated. Because it is an undergrad level class, it's really easy. If you want, we can even send you the materials you need.

If you are in the local area and would like to do this, please contact Scott directly. If you are doing it and need materials, let me know directly.

Hi Betsy!

You are welcome to post my message. It is an UG course (a first course in Psych of Sexuality). However the only prerequisite is Gen Psych so we have everywhere from Freshman to Seniors (though most are not Psych majors).

Thanks for your help!

best,

Betsy, I read your post about a speaker at the Kansas State University. If no one has responded to this yet I may be willing to Fly out there and be the guest speaker. I do Have a few questions as to what they are looking for. Are they looking for a transgendered person or an intersexed person. I would also need any materials that you or anyone else would like to send me and also a topic guideline or forum. I have done thease before usually at kind of spur of the moment type situations. Please email me if you need someone to do this yet. Thanks Ashley

Ashley,

That would be great! I can send you speeches that you can adapt, powerpoint, handouts, etc.

It would be best to contact Scott directly for arrangements and specifics.

You need to cover your expenses yourself, however. We just don't have the funding to cover the expenses of volunteers. If you need to stay overnight, universities and colleges usually have guest housing available; you may need to ask for it. In some cases (depending on your own tax situation) travel expenses are deductible when doing volunteer work.; you would need to talk to your tax-advisor to be sure of your own circumstances.

We often get requests that we can't accomodate, so I will continue to post them. We are happy to provide the materials you need to be successful.

Betsy

edit: I should add that should anyone like to help Ashley get to Kansas, we would be happy to make sure your donation does exactly that:)
