Here's an unusual question for y'all:

Is it hard to find clothing that fits well?

I recently started studying sewing and clothing design, and couldn't help but wonder if anyone else was challenging to fit well. You know, not enough room here, too baggy there, etc.

I have not been able to wear women's Jeans. I have always had to buy Men's jeans. I cannot wear women's blouses because they are too tight across my shoulders. I have been told by my chiropractor that I have a farmers back. I am very broad shouldered. I wear almost always button up shirts. I just recently bought some women's jeans and they do fit better than they used too. I am not sure why that is. I have recently lost weight and was able to buy some smaller sizes, so maybe that is why they fit better. The women's jeans have always been too long in the crotch. I refuse to wear a dress. I look huge in them. Great question. I have always had trouble with clothing.

LOL...I always bomb out with women's jeans as well. I buy them almost exclusively in the boy's section as they fit me so much better...no hips, and short legs.

hi every one back up and runnin new lap top ...on the line of garments ....i have to get my jeans in the womans dept..size 6 .4 in hiphuggers.no mans jean comes that small ..down south the smallest size in men is 34 most of the time its 36/30.not that fat or short.. tank top fit the best,,, small.... beach

Sure wish I could go to work in my pajamas lol
Even petite have to be shortened on me (4'10") and with my broad shoulders - I have to buy a larger top so clothes have always been one of my very many problems lol
I am what you call a tailor's nightmare
I have to buy stretch jeans because my legs are so skinny but my tummy is so round - if the waist fits - the legs are too baggy
If the legs fit then I can't button the waist so.....................
you just make the best of it - after all clothes don't make the man

I wish I could wear a skirt or dress to work. It would make life possibly more difficult for me though. But at least it would make it damn obvious that I am simply not male.

I used to have no trouble buying bras, but over the past year I have found it hard to find ones that are both comfortable, and fit me. I hate microfibre! I like lycra (I think it is called spanex in the US) and nylon elastine. I also find my size is hard to find. 14C (34C in the US?) is not a common size. So I some times find designs I like, but not in the size I want.

I also sometimes find that trying one on in the store is dodgy, though some places don't have a problem with it. Taking back a bra that does not fit is not easy.

I have found difficulty finding clothes that show me off well as I look for bright colo(u)rs on summy days and dull colours on wet days and find that masculine trousers I detest and they do not fit well anyway. I identify wearing loose dresses blouses and ski pants and white socks and find that some of the shops sell sizes that they can order but wonder if anyone knows postal suitable shops that are affordable and if you can give details of email addresses that would be helpful. More soon.

Besides being a Science Nerd, I should deserve an additional nickname of Miss Piggy (Muppets character) since in the last year I have gained "additional weight" due to knoshing junk food and little exercise. Anyway, pants size is 3X and tops/shirts are 2X.....so I have to browse the plus-size section, which not that many stores have a great variety of as in non-plus (so I get non-plussed when hunting for nice outfits). Jeans are out for me since most of the tailoring expects the wearer to have a flat abdomen, which I don't. And I have had the shoulder padding removed from my jackets/coats; elsewise looked too big. Most of my shopping I've done at either K-Mart or Target, and I miss the now discontinued Kathy Ireland line of stretch pants and oufits which were tailored just right for my pear shape and "secretary's arse":o

Dresses? "Granny" dresses for me since I don't like showing off my legs due to "krinkled" and scarred depressions on right lower leg (from multiple fracture/orthopaedic surgeries).......and again my arse.

Time for me to get off my duff ( and get my duff off me!!:rolleyes: )
and exercise more, which is prompting me to go out and buy a bicycle for this summer. I used to cycle a lot but stopped about 2 yrs ago...and I sold my then 12-speed "male" bike.

Oh well........I think a lot of people get frustrated over the "right clothes".......I am of the opinion that most of popular line clothes are tailored to fit "model-types" or young women:confused:

I haven't been wearing a "regular" bra....too restrictive and pinching; am thinking of maybe a sports (cotton!) bra since I don't want to get too "floppy"
