The founding board of Bodies Like Ours is VERY HAPPY to announce that we have gained our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization from the IRS. This is very good news for us as we further our goals of giving everyone affected by the issues we discuss here a place to be ourselves, and connect with others like with Bodies Like Ours. :p

Have you considered using a third party like PayPal for accepting donations? They charge a couple of percent, but it's easy to use.

Hi Glenn,

We checked paypal but ended up hearing some bad things about them. The other issue with the third party donation methods is we have ethical issues about the fees charged and the intentions of donors. If you donate $100, and the collection party takes 5-7%, it gets a bit sour.

However, we are very close to making a decision with an organization that charges very low fees (in the area around 2%, which is low for the amount we would be using it) Unfortunately, anyone, whether non-profit or a money-earning business has to pay fees for the privilege of on-line credit card use.
