Hi,

My father-in-law had a stroke on Monday morning. It doesn't look good at this point - he's paralyzed on the left side, didn't even try to communicate with us by yesterday, and at 90 he's not exactly a spring chicken. He's Louis Katz, and he's in Brooklyn.

Any kind thoughts, prayers, etc would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Glenn

It doesn't look like he'll make it, so the best we can hope for at the moment is a peaceful passing. Thanks for your support.

thanks, beach. he is slowly deteriorating. can't breathe very well, but has no more than primitive reflexes. so now we wait for a miracle, or the inevitable.

He passed about 10 o'clock this morning. Pretty much a relief, since he will be more comfortable now. Thanks everyone for their help.

My wife and I got through the funeral (very speedy, in accordance with Jewish tradition) and have done most of the wading-through-his-apartment part. Now we just want the cleanup all over with.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

I haven't had a chance to collapse yet, but otherwise I'm doing as well as could be expected.

Hang in there, Glenn. Maybe, take a day or two (or more?) of personal R&R (if your work situations will allow it) for you and your wife, to "recharge the batteries" and start the new year on a steadier footing. Take care.:)
