Hi.
Y'all are experts on the adrenals, right? Maybe you can help.
My karyotype is longer than my name but basically I'm xy/xo. I have some other problems that I've been trying to sort out for years but I've been unable to get any help from my doctors.
My body loses sodium and potassium. Then I get light-headed and have cramps. If I drink two glasses of water before I go to bed I'm just about guaranteed to get muscle spasms and then leg or foot cramps. A small bag of potato chips and I'm fine within ten minutes.
I don't sweat below the neck. So, on a hot day I have to be extremely careful or I overheat. And if I drink lots of water then it's cramps again.
My blood pressure is usually around 110/65. I've had surgery a bunch of times and each time my pressure falls. Last time it went to 60/40. I've gotten oily skin, light-headedness, a little facial hair, dehydration, muscle spasms, and sometimes headache for a few weeks after each surgery. And, when they cared enough to measure my electrolytes, my sodium and potassium were both low.
My cortisol and aldosterone levels are normal but haven't been measured shortly after surgery. I don't have darkened skin or a rounded face. Perhaps it's kidneys rather than adrenals? I have prominent fetal lobulation of my kidneys.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :o)
Cheers,
Jane
