View Full Version : Amount of views vs. replies
Did anyone ever notice the amount of views vs the amount of replies?
Hey Aimee,
I wonder about that too. I wonder even more when I see 16 or 17 people here at the same time and then wonder more when no one posts. I'm not really sure how to make it better, other than remembering we are a small community and one that is just starting to grow.
I would love to hear some feedback from posters and non-posters/lurkers alike what they like/dislike about the board so I can change it. I am admittedly, quite new at hosting one (as opposed to participating in them LOL). Any/all suggestions are most welcome...and you can either post them here or write me offline to let me know. I would rather see them here though so it can become a roundtable of sorts.
Also, I have been considering making the viewing of registered member info stuff viewable to members only. Aimee...as someone who can't register, how would you feel about that? For registered members, how do you feel about it?
Best,
Betsy
Sounds like a good idea to me.
Betsy,
If you made the member info stuff open to members, I for one would feel more comfortable about putting more down. Now I have no clue who and how many see my info, so I want to keep it simple.
Keep up the good work.
Hugs,
CR
If you don't mind me asking, why can't you become a registered member?
God bless,
CR
revolving account ,
I would agree to a members only entry area , I am like CR , I do not like posting a whole lot of info myself.
I would also try to keep unregistered individuals in but on a lower level.
It is your site do what you want Betsy.

I agree with only members getting to detailed member info - there are a lot of weirdoes out there (spammers, surgeons, Republicans :), and I'm also reluctant to share much info. Keeping the private messaging available for everyone works well for me, though.
And Betsy, you're doing a great job!

Hi everyone,
I restricted the viewing of the member area to only registered members. I also restricted the viewing of who's online to only registered members as well. Anyone can still PM if they would like--registered or not. That is quite private as you probably know if you have used it. Also, email information is set default not to show but if you want to double check your own settings, just go into the user cp button up on the right corner and check to make sure yours is set the way you want it as it can be overridden by each individual user for their own stuff. If there's anything else you would like to see/not see just let me know and I will change it as necessary/desired.
Betsy
I also think it a good idea for members to see detailed members info (keep out the wierdos) and it will also give members a chance to email each other and also post on the boards
I would like to get to know some members to ask a few million questions to and get responses either through the boards or email
Thanks, Connie

Betsy-
I love your website! The only thing i can think of that would be awesome to change is to have like an instant messaging thing. I don't know how hard that would be to do though, just an idea:cool: thank ya!
- <3 always -
The member info has been set for viewing by registered members only but the board is open for anyone to post regardless of whether they register or choose not too.
IM function...you can put your IM information into your profile if you would like to be contacted that way. Since that area is only accessible to registered members, your info should be safe but as in life, there are no guarantees that someone could register and have less than honorable intentions.
If you ever have that happen, let me know ASAP so the situation can be corrected immediately. Too much hard work and long nights have gone into creating Bodies to be a safe and welcoming place for something like that to disrupt it.
I did explore using a chat program but they are notoriously unsafe/unfriendly towards the servers they reside on and our website host doesn't allow them as a result. Maybe someday we'll be so big here that we will need our own dedicated server ;) Unlikely, but always possible! (Hey, a herm can dream can't I?)
Best,
Betsy
