View Full Version : PMs and some other annoying bugs
If you try to access the forums using the top link on the new home page, you'll find that some info gets cut off. Use the link on the right or just access at bodieslikeours.org/forums
It's a problem I'm aware of and it's on the honey do list.

If you've done any surfing on the new site today, you've probably hit some "sorry, this site is down for maintainance", not found, or forbidden errors. When these occur, I'm aware of it and am working on fixing it. Feel free to send an email about it but chances are I am aware of it. For a period of time this morning I pulled the entire main site off-line while dealing with a coding issue I caused.
Most of the issues I am working on right now need to take place in the directory where bodies is set up for production---that is, where it is live and what you access. I chose to do this because it is easier for me. It was a decision that needed to be made when I opted to go live with the new site. The alternative was to continue to develop some minor issues and wait or do it live and I went for the live aspect.
Most of the changes are also on the back end so there is little you will see unless I mess something up as I did this morning (and will see periodically until I am done---if you hit a problem, hit refresh on your browser and that may solve it unless it is a major issue and I've yanked the site while I work on it)
One of the really big issues I am working on is friendly URLs. That has been a headache all day. The one hack I've been leaning towards gives a + symbol between words and that is not acceptable to me, plus it killed our internal redirects causing them to come up with a 303 forbidden error. I can implement some symlinks to make them work but I don't like that + sign. I've removed it and so the urls are a bit funky again. I am working on a solution for this and am in contact with a developer about it. He hopes to have a solution by the end of the week and I'm hopeful it will solve this problem. I can stick it in there now but am way too lazy to rewrite all the urls and the new release due out in a week or so should do it automagically.
The site map isn't going to happen for the time being as I don't like way it renders and need to work on that. Same issue with the FAQ. I can write this manually but don't have the time. If you would like to take this on, please let me know---it's not that difficult to do, I was just hoping to automate it.

Also...
You can access the old site at static.bodieslikeours.org. The button images on the main page are broken (javascript doesn't move well) but once you click on one and enter the content area, they should work fine. Please don't link to anything there as it will be eventually going away.
