The woman who I am posting on behalf of is a longtime friend of BLO. I've presented with her in the past as well. Her doctoral advisor is also a longtime friend of Bodies and the intersex movement. Last summer, Kate approached us and asked if we would assist her in doctoral research and I readily agreed. She's now ready to begin it and could use your help as a participant. There are very few researchers I agree to work directly with so I am also hoping you will agree to be a part of her research. It's also one of the few studies I actually agreed to be a part of. I've also seen the research questionaire and believe it to be useful.

Here is a description of the study and a bit about Kate.
Participants are needed for a research project on the experiences of individuals who have had their intersexed condition treated through corrective genital surgery. The purpose of this study is to better understand the ways that intersexual conditions are managed, medically and within an individual’s family, and how these ways affect that individual’s experiences of their body, their sense of self and their important relationships. Potential benefits of this study include the effect that it may have on changing existing medical protocol, as well as increasing knowledge about what will be helpful to people with intersexed conditions within a psychotherapeutic context. Interested individuals will be asked to participant in an approximately 90 minute confidential interview, scheduled at the participants’ convenience.
This study is being conducted by Kate Chittenden, Psy.M, as part of her doctoral work in Clinical Psychology at Rutgers University. Kate has longstanding experience as a psychotherapist working with people with a wide range of gender and sexual orientations.
