My theory on finding out what's going on is see as many doctors as possible, keep them all in the dark and see how many think the same things, or not. One or two doctors isn't going to do, you'll probably need to see 5-10 before you get enough opinions and an idea about what to do, and you may well end up with 10 different opinions.
