“Size Matters” to premier at Symposium on Intersex Advocacy, Education, and The Law
In The Life, the gay and lesbian newsmagazine airing on public television includes a segment on intersex in their March, 2005 episode. The segment, “Size Matters” airs in the episode titled, “American Gender”. In addition to intersex, the episode examines the complicated web of gender in America and includes segments on gender inequities and identity, those who live their lives outside of the gender binary, and drag performers. It is hosted by RuPaul and also features “Out Takes” by regular ITL commentator Harvey Fierstein. According to the In The Life website, the show airs on 130 stations nationwide and is seen by more than a million people each month.
In The Life, a sponsor of the symposium has given the organizers special clearance to screen “Size Matters” during the event. The piece includes interviews with Betsy Driver, Director of Bodies Like Ours, Lisa Greene, mom to a little girl with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and others.
The segment will be introduced by the producer, Steph Watts. It will be shown at the beginning of the symposium, on Tuesday, February 22, 2005. The symposium kicks off at 1pm on Tuesday with welcoming remarks by Julie Zando, Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Women’s Law Journal.
