Intersex Movie marathon-fundraiser/brainstorm for the film 'Adams, Eves and the Rest of Us'.

Intersex filmmaker Elias seMbessakwini
(http://www.geocities.com/greenpiratequeen) is screening multiple sessions of films about intersexness to fundraise, and more importantly, inspire discussion, feedback and brainstorming about what is good or not so good about the films that have been made so far, and what people would like to see in a new film/documentary about intersex people, their experiences and issues.

There will be 4 sessions, each followed by up to ˝ hour set aside for discussion, brainstorming and feedback.

Venue: Center for Sex and Culture - 398 11th (at
Harrison) in San Francisco.

Date: Saturday 18th June (session times 2pm, 4pm, 6pm,
8pm)

Cost: Sliding scale $5-$15 per session – Noone turned away for lack of funds.

Yellow Is For Hermaphrodites: Mani’s Story - A documentary film that traces the life of the Aotearoa (New Zealand) intersex activist Mani Mitchell (60

Hermaphrodites Speak! - Angela, David, Heidi, Tom, Mani, Cheryl, Max and Hida meet (other people who are intersex for the first time) and they tell their stories of growing up intersex (30 mins)

6pm

Gendernauts - GENDERNAUTS explores phenomena of gender fluidity at the end of the millennium in the Bay Area, California (86 mins)

8pm

XXXY - In this short documentary, Kristi Bruce and Howard Devore, both born intersex, talk eloquently and straightforwardly about their experience of a medical model based upon shame, secrecy, and forced “normalization.” (13 mins)

Born Queer: dear doctors - A black & white, intersex, experimental, spoken-word, video-art piece. (5 mins)

The Child with an Intersex Condition: Total Patient Care - This video tape is addressed to medical and mental health professionals, but is quite accessible to a lay audience as well. (20 mins)

Intersex Exposition: Full Monty - a short documentary video about a Jewish Australian who performs at a lesbian strip club in Sydney and 'comes out' as Intersex (naked) during the performance. (7 mins)

Sway - Short doco on the life of one of the 20,000 intersex born each year and how a 'he who has become a she' looks back on her challenging life (4 mins)

Journey Intersex - Del meets his cousin Heidi three years after he had revealed to her his knowledge of her intersex condition, and helps her in her journey to find access to the hidden facts behind her medical history and to finally confront her estranged mother with this issue for the first time. (24 mins)

This is something that Eli put together herself. If you are interested in something for the UK, you would probably need to organize it yourself or enjoin others to do it.
