Hey, kids! My name is Julianna, and I've been searching for a forum like this for quite some time. I am not technically intersexed myself. (I was born a genetic "female".) I'm fascinated with all things concerning sex and gender. I think it's really great that there's a supportive place for people to go and discuss the issues pertinent to being intersexed. I feel the intersexed and genderqueer community is largely ignored by most of society, and it's a tremendous shame.
I hope by being here I can learn a few things and make a few friends.
Hugs'n'kisses,
Julianna

I am a genetic female also with a metabolic endocrine medical condition that affects my adrenal gland and I lack the ability to produce cortisol in utero from a defiency along this pathway one result was excessive androgens that externally made it difficult to determine gender but internally female chromosomes, and only female sex organs. Externally it wasn't as easy to tell but after futher testing like ultrasound, chromosomes, bloodwork determine the cause as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and surgery was done to match my phenotype to the genotype at the correct time for me in order to allow for my period to flow through and for later sexual intercourse. Females with CAH can and do give birth to their husbands children. The medication we take is necessary not only to suppress the excesive androgens but also needed in times of physical stress such as illness or operation. One needs cortisone to live much like a diabetic needs insulin or someone needs med for a thyroid condition. Note: Many with CAH don't even fix into the medical definition of intersex meaning having to do with external genital area not fitting into the norm, non standard chromosomes hey sometimes more is better, or the genotype not matching the phenotype.
There are many different intersex medical conditions with us being genetically female like you or genetically male or a mixture of more chromosomes. Regardless you'll find that US fit into the female gender or male gender really well and genetics don't make much of a difference. Most of US fit into the female or male gender also with some not finding the need to. One may also say this about those that don't have any intersex conditions also.
I guess you see me as a fetish like the same way I look at men in uniform and then just realize they are just people after you date them?

Hello Giulianna :-)
I think that to say you were born a (genetic female) loses it's meaning
here, in a place where the connection between genetics and phenotype
starts to break down. Perhaps to say you were born an (average female)?
I shouldn't say, it's your intentions to decide.
Also, I think perhaps you might find that many intersexed do not consider
themselves (genderqueer) in any substance. It's their choice to make.
But yes, to learn is good :-) and friends too ...
I am not technically intersexed myself.
Is that kind of like being not technically pregnant? :happy68:

Ah, fun with semantics.

This is precisely why I've had such trepidation about forums and other such places like these. I mistakenly use the wrong words, and I'm trampled on. Clearly that was a post conveying nothing but friendliness, and I've been greeted with nothing by snide remarks concerning word choice.
Sorry to have ruffled feathers with my horribly misguided vocabulary. I guess making friends and learning is out of the question.
Thanks, I'll find my own way out.

" I hope by being here I can learn a few things" ?
I explained CAH to you and a little bit about other conditions. Sorry if that was incorrect on my part.
Oh gosh...no, don't take it that way at all. It's not really a semantics issue but rather a reality---it's one of those things that you either are or you not. You just don't know me that well and I can be a bit a tongue in cheek sometimes. LOL...I'm someone cheeky enough to ask people about their bathroom habits and then expect serious answers.
Regardless, of course you are most welcome here.
I'll stick this in here again in case you missed it the first time:
