I know that we have some BLO members in London (Fee, for example), Morgan an "ex-Londoner" now in Ireland may have relatives there. When time permits, would all of you let us here at BLO know that yourselves, friends, and family are alright, or not. It's a horrible thing for the innocents to suffer violence, injury, and death because of the murderous fanaticism of socio-religious and political ideologies.

I'm not from London, but I've friends and family who live there, of different religions and none. It looks like they're all ok.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for your concern. It has been a horrible day here in London, but thankfully no member of my family was in the city-centre at the time of the attacks this morning. Russell Square, however is the tube station for Great Ormond Street Hospital where we had an appointment last week in urology, and the train bombed at Kings Cross station is also on my line, the Piccadilly line. One of the bus explosions happened outside the British Medical Association's offices - somewhat ironic, I feel.
I have just finished speaking with some staff at GOSH to make sure they are ok. The hospital has been admitting adult walking wounded all day, and has coped well with many off-duty staff returning to work to give assistance, although many routine operations/procedures have been canncelled/postponed. I know a few people at UCLH too, also close to the Kings Cross and Russell Square attacks, but I have not yet been able to contact them.
London will bounce back quickly, as it always does. I remember as a child of about 7 years in the 1970's, staying in the centre of the city with my parents, when there was an IRA bombing of a restaurant located closeby. It is just SO senseless a way to protest, this destruction of innocent lives. Isn't the peaceful protesting, a la Live8, a much better way to bring attention to issues/causes? The summit at Gleneagles (which happens to also be a few minutes from my Mother's home in Auchterarder) has been naturally disrupted with Tony Blair heading back south to give support to his government trying to deal with events down here. As with the tragic events of 9/11, we shall NOT be broken by these murderous bullies. Things will return to normal fairly quickly here, so please America, do not be afraid to holiday over here. London is still a wonderful city, worthy of hosting the 2012 Olympics. I was certainly not put off visiting your beautful country by 9/11, not that these events here can compare to the enormity of that dreadful day in New York.
Kate.pixiecat and Andrea are also here in the south-east. Are you two ok?
Thanks again for your concern, Dana.
Take care,
Fee
Thanks, Dana, for taking the lead on checking in our Londoners here. I'm glad those who checked in thus far are okay and hope we hear from the others soon. We get alot of visitors from the UK who are not posters here, and I hope each are okay.
