Body Changes

I was watching the Oprah Winfrey show this morning about people who were changing sex. Transitioning from female to male. I was interested in how they were able to do this. They took testosterone and have developed male characteristics. Look their age, have grown beards, etc.
I've posted here before about my condition of IHH. I've been taking testosterone, patches then self injections for over four years now.
I look very young, am unable to grow a beard and still have sparse body hair.
I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong or will it take longer for these changes to occur.
