Hi - I'm new here: I was diagnosed with MRKH about 5 months ago (I'm 18, nearly 19), and am in the process of seeing an endocrinologist with regards to hypothyroidism. I've got an appointment in two weeks time, but in the meanwhile I was wondering if anyone knows whether the two things are connected somehow?
Also, anyone else with thyroid probs who has found a gluten/wheat free diet helpful? I've been on it for a month, and I'm less puffy than before. However, I'm still a lot heavier - 4 months ago, i was 45 kg (around 95-100pounds for you americans) and now i'm 58 (around 120-130 pounds - sorry about the very general estimates). ANyone got any advice about trying to manage it all? Drop me a line. If you need any hugs (im not really qualified for much else), don't hesitate to ask :)

I haven't heard of any connection between thyroid and MRKH - I'd bet that the pituitary is a more likely cause.

My stepdaughter had hypothyroidism a couple of years ago, but she never tried a wheat-free diet, so I'm afraid I can't help much!

I've never heard of any connection between gluten sensitivity and hypothyroidism. But I do know that many IS people have thyroid problems. Glenn mention pituitary...any time there is a pituitary problem then most likely it will also interfere with proper thyroid function. Personally I have hypothyroidism, was diagnosed at 33, but my doc said I have probably had it the past 15 yrs. I went to several docs before I was diagnosed.

It has been awhile since you posted your question. So what was the outcome of the endo visit? Did you get any answers?
