>>> if you lived in the US, you would not have to ask. To hear a child sing about how much they love the parents that are soooo different.....
THAT, and my heart re-arranged the lyrics a bit to say.....
AIS mutters! AYYYY IIIII SSSSS mutters!
Hey Maria, I think I understand were you come from and I understand that many people who don't live in the Netherlands feel this song is unique. But for the Dutch it is a song like there are so many other songs about parents. May be it has something to do with the fact that many people in the Netherlands don't think that gay parents are soooo different....

I don't think any kids here in the UK would ever *dare* to sing a song about their parents... at least not a nice song anyway... :confused3

Hiya Frauling, i really appreciate that link. While, i was not able to comprehend the language, i did very much love the sing song effect of the lyrics. Thank for the sensebilities of those who added the subtitle's. I think the song is very beautiful.
Now then as too kids being able too, or wanting to sing about there parents.
All it takes is a little encouragement. Many would do so if given the opportunity. And yes Katie is probably right, some would prefer to sing dark songs as well.
Loved the link Maria, thanks for posting it.
best wishes
