hello,

i have mild locah. my doctors want to treat this with bcp. i was on one (mrcette) for about 6 months. but for various reasons, decided to quit last march. my body went a little crazy after i quit. i needed to shower 3 times a day to deal with the unctrollable oil my skin and scalp were producing. i broke out a ton. my breasts shrunk a lot and kind of .. hardened. and i started getting more unwanted hair than usual. i don't like the idea of supressing my natural hormones. i hated coming off that pill. my body is only now returning to the state it was in prior to starting birth conrtrol pills, which isn't a great one, but is certainly preferrable to how it was after quitting.

i want to go on an estrogen replacement patch. my doctor says that, no, i should try birth control again. i have heard good things about bioidentical patches. why won't he let me try this? are there any other options?

i am currently on spironolactone, and that is all. my doctor says i am very mild locah ands wants to hold off on the steroids, which i am ok with for now.

thanks.

Oh now fumbling for the right words too say. I think it may be that your doctor is more worried about cost of/price of transdermal patch. I am unsure though.
I can only see a doctor making statements like what your's did, if it is simply an affordability issue. birth control pill is simply cheaper than patch. In the end they do the same thing, although the patch is kinder to your kidneys, as they do not have to work as hard.

i'd talk to your doctor, i am sure you can come to some understanding about why he/she is pushing birth control pill.

>>> i'd rather be on hydrocort. I'm on pred. now, and wish i had been on it YEARS ago. hydrocort is so short acting (and you can get it OTC for heaven's sake) that unless your taking a high dose of it round the clock, your not gonna get dependent (one of the MD's concerns) or surpress your immune system (another concern).

the beauty of "steroids" (as if that were a dirty word, instead of what your body produces naturally) is that it treats the CAUSE of your excess androgens (why your breasts are shrinking... among other things) by preventing there formation in the first place.
