It's too bad she won't live. But then again, who does?
You live your life, what you think is your life, until someone casually smashes your universe, to take away your humanity. Makes everything you've ever felt or been nothing more than an illusion, using a few damaging words. And then the killer, feeling themself at an advantage, decide they own you ...
Maybe I'm weird, but I can empathize with Rachel only too well.
You live your life, what you think is your life, until someone casually smashes your universe, to take away your humanity.
Isn't that the truth.
Taking this a little further and a little off the topic, I keep on telling people that there is not much difference between what you have now and a homeless person you flip coins to. The difference is one event or a series of little ones. It can be that drastic.
Appreciate what you have and be kind to the needy ones. We never know when or if we will end up like that.
Scary thought, huh ?

Hi Andre,
I think though you can apply it to life in general, the situation does seem to run awefully close to intersexed concerns. Consider ...
We have a member here who used to be featured on the main web site before it was hacked. He was born with progestin induced virilization, he would have been a she, except his mother took some md-prescribed pills while she was pregnant.
He seemed to be male, and his father got him started on taking testoserone
while he was a teenager. Just like all the ks'ers ... And he said he never knew what the truth was until he was 40. Then the doctors started investigating and said (oh ... you're female) and found a tiny uterus and ovaries inside all shriveled up from the testosterone, which had never functioned.
I bet people would think there's all kinds of ways for the story to turn out, like saying "I'm a woman now" or something like that. But the last I heard, he still considers himself a man, except the doctors and lawyers took that away from him. They took away his legal maleness and said too bad. Which is a big problem, when this obviously masculine guy who never lived a day as a woman is forced to have his identity papers all say "female".
And then there's my miserable situation. The doctors claim that I literally have no medical history at all before 5 years ago, under any name. When I've tried to check, I've been told things like how the hospital I was born at threw my records out. And re: my childhood records they're such a secret that the doctor said I'd have to win a federal lawsuit if I want to see them. And other doctors whom I've been to over my lifetime say they have no record that I ever was.
And then they have the nerve to start off by tellling me that the big full sized vaginal canal that their scans show in me was because I obviously must have snuck away to some third world country to have half a sex change. Later changing their theory to how my rectum must have spontaneously migrated several inches to account for why there's a canal there. And took lots of hormone tests showing ovarian function which they completely discarded. All because they suddenly found some old dna test which they claim makes everything "impossible". And they didn't want to schedule any more dna tests to help figure out what's going on, or exams to verify the existance of two orifices.
Meanwhile, my insurance company was looking at the same test results and saying "no way this person isn't female", and disallowed payment for diagnostic tests that they list as "male only". And they don't care what my doctors said.
So now I'm stuck with big medical debts I can't pay, and doctors who won't diagnose anything at all. And I'm in so much pain from the lump inside my apparent ersatz uterus that's it all I can do to keep from screaming every time my pelvic muscles contract. And the last time I tried to walk as far as my mailbox, it was so bad that I started bleeding afterwards. While the doctors keep acting like I'm some fake person who never existed at all, and that the lump is impossible because the uterus it's in is impossible. But what did Sherlock Holmes say about the difference between impossible and unlikely?
But what did Sherlock Holmes say about the difference between impossible and unlikely?
"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. "
