View Full Version : Hi Everyone - updates
Hi Everyone,
Sorry ive not been here for ages..Wanted to let ppl know that I finally have had a pelvic MRI which kinda shockingly states that neither of my ovaries can be determined!!! For those that remember my past posts I have always felt this to be the case since the birth of my daughter in 1998, but since then various ultrasounds have shown one ovary, or a structure possibly resembling an ovary...but now via MRI there seems to be nothing there.......begs lots of questions, doesn't it...perhaps I only ever had one ovary and the other was something else...and they removed both to be on the safe side...:pat: I just wish the medics would be upfront and TELL me ...haven't i waited long enough. Am going to try and post some of the MRI pics in due course to see if anyone (Dana for instance) can shed some light on them.
Hope you are all well. Good to see you, Glenn!
Take care

great to see you have some mri scans to look at.
Might want to take a look at the slice separation and thinkness of your slides. I kinda noticed that with my own MRI scans, that there are alot of things that are well just iffy? I cant tell what they are, as it looks as if there is too much blank space, between each slice. Sort of like, i can see some things looking at them horizontally, but the 3D doesnt clear anything up, so its like theres partial images, that i am not sure what is actually there, or where things actually went too. MRI scans are kinda interesting though too look at, and spend hours pondering why things are here or there, and following things around to see where that ends. It can be kinda addictive, and well confusing, particularly if there are things present that make absolutely no sense to myself. And even worse when you ask for help/information from the hospital, to talk to a radiologist to clarify things with you and they wont. Having your own scans can be confusing, when you can't identify things as being one thing or another.
best of luck to you
Thank you Kailana...I know what you mean about how confusing the pics are when looking at them myself, as I wouldn't know what parts of my body I was looking at... But I do have the report from the radiologist, too.

Hi Fee! Thanks for the update, even if the news is somewhat baffling. :)
Hi - yeah, baffling's the word, alright, especially when the gynae who referred me for the MRI still insists there IS something there!!:confused6 Obviously, something definitely did happen during that CS which has made my ovaries, or whatever they were, vanish completely!
One question, does anyone know if an MRI would show detail such as the end of a fallopian tube or not?

depending on how far apart each slide is from each other, there could be too much dead space. So you can't really see where, or if there is anything left. You might try looking at the different views, like from the side, looking at your scans from fthe side view, and slowly panning threw each slice. Or the horizontal plane, and going up the body. Also try looking at 3-D views, it's possible that there is something left just not really noticiable while looking at it from the normal view.
I hope that made sense, currently i cant recall the names of the different views, Sacral, coronal something like that.
What i do know is that my original MRI from 93 showed alot more then what my scan from 2004 show. Which i find really amazing as computers are tons faster now and MRI technology is suppose to be better now then what it was back then.
Have you ever hadan ultrasound? I know many people say they don't really show much, from my experience though, an ultrasound is tons cheaper, and can still show alot that is not detectable through MRI. And as you can see what the technician is seeing while looking, you can ask questions without having to wait days for the radiologist to exam it, and not talk too you to explain what they say is or isn't there.
Good luck.
Hi Kailana,
Yes, I've had loads of ultrasound scans, most not able to identify the left ovary, but one or two also not identifying the right, either. The ultrasonographers certainly didn't chat to me....i just had to wait for the reports....To me it's obvious, something happened during that C Section as it was less than a year later that my hormone levels were described as post-menopausal, i was finally put on HRt, the ultrasounds couldn't detect the left ovary, and my periods stopped completely. I don't buy all this crap that people's bodies sometimes change beyond all recognition after giving birth - not when there is bloodwork evidence as well as scans to say things aren't quite right. Anyway, all I can do is keep fighting for answers and the truth....I don't want to be obsessing about what happened to me for the rest of my life.
