Has anyone experienced severe cronic anemia with CAH. I read a web page that went on how anemia isn't a medical condition within itself but an off shot of other things. This web page brought up how anemia could develope from a mal formation in a organ of the body such as the kidneys or adrenals.

Back ground information on CAH.....Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia .........Congenital = birth ..... Hyperplasia = thickening or overgrowth of the adrenal glands from birth due to missing or defective enzymes (cortisol). Cortisol is made for the needs of the body. The Body, recognizing low levels of Cortisol will try to stimulate the adrenal cortex to make more by"pushing" the glands harder by a stimulating hormone called ACTH made in the pituitary gland . The constant unsuccessful stimualtion causes the cortex to increase in thickness and become "hyperplastic" as a result persons with CAH must rely on medication that mimicks natural cortisol. Without taking the synthetic cortisone someone with CAH can die as a result.

I've tried to find the web page again about anemia and medical conditions but with no luck. I think it was from a hospital in Australia.
