Hi

My name is Sophie. I am involved with some of the AISSG work in the UK. I have 5 alpha reductase deficiency according to the Medics, but my situation never really fitted the Mc Ginley description of this condition. (I am not sure if I am being told all the facts basically) I was a victim of a botched hypospadia repair that led to many problems and often wish I had been left alone.

I came on to this list a few days ago when Melissa told me that
someone was making big statements about "Managing" intersex people from an "administrative" standpoint.

I have to admit I found that thread very draining. In truth I am left feeling a little cold because there are people out there who still treat us as objects to be "managed" and not as human beings.

But I have looked around this list and I really feel safe talking here. I am still nervous because I am often a bit nervous aout meeting new people online. But I wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I also want to say I really love this Website :-)

All the best

Sophie.

Hi Sophie,

It was only a couple of weeks ago that we met for the first time (at the AISSG-UK meeting). So good to meet again!

Hi Miriam :-) :-)

"It was only a couple of weeks ago that we met for the
first time (at the AISSG-UK meeting). So good to meet again!"

I thought it was you :-) It is really good to see you as well.

It is great this because there are a lot of people I have met that
I really want to keep in touch with. Seems I have found the right place.

How are you doing :-) ?

All the best

Many hugs

Sophie

Hello Sofie338, glad to see you've already found a friend you've met in person. That's neat. Just like to be part of the welcoming group to this jewel of a site.

The number of communications you've made, just over Sentinal007, far surpasses my meager contribution. Thank you for helping to hold the torch to this person.

Hi Wyn Hi ClaraJane

:)

Thanks for the welcome :) The thing I really like here is that
sense of family I guess that I feel at the AISSG. You are a real good bunch here :)

Big Hug to you all

:D

Hi Dana

Thanks :-)

I have recovered a bit from all the silliness of Sentinel. He just reminds me of someone in the UK with similar silly notions of control.

If anything the way I came to be on the site has helped me.
I really felt that I was not alone. Emi, Betsy, Miraim, all of you just
telling the Sentinel that Intersex people are fed up with people missing the point and imposing solutions on us.

Sentinel upset me, but everyone on that thread who spoke out.
made me feel safe and able to say my peice as well.

It is just like finding a new family

All the best :)

hugs

Sophie.

Hello again Sophie.

People like that aren't worth getting in a funk over...and heck, it brought you here so that is a good thing. Once in a great while we get some oddballs but this community is really wonderful at keeping them at bay.
