Hi all,

In just under 4 weeks I will take my qualifying examinations for a PhD in Nuclear Engineering/Health Physics. I have been studying a lot recently and know most of the material, and am spending the time between now and then closing any gaps in my knowledge.

It also looks as if I will be hired at M. D. Anderson Hospital, where I could do my dissertation research (with full time pay!).

The rest of the time I am trying to stay well fed, well rested and well-exercised.

For those of you inclined to prayer (positive energy, etc.), I would appreciate whatever you can send my way. Just to be able to focus, understand and ace the tests. Also That M. D. Anderson will offer me a decent wage (to pay off debts) and get a good research project to finish in a timely fashion.

Thanks everyone

In the home stretch, almost ready.

A week from tuesday they begin, and run through thursday. I am attempting to ace them. That way if I fall short I should still pass.

in my last class of Lit 2. I worked my brains inside out for that "A" but what a

RUSH it is when you get the grade you want. I must call you sometime

maybe we could share brains ( not for dinner) for a little while. I don't

know, when I get my A.A., if I should move on to cooking school or, go to

Harvard for my Bach in my Arts. It is a tough choice when you are at that

fork in the road. (No pun intended)

I saw your web-site. It is fishy, but very nice, and I'm sure you can pull off

the grade you want :teach:

It must be all that fish you eat! Wait! Are mermaids carnivores? They must

be!

No herbivore could be that smart!

Meresa,
Sorry I didn't respond to your post earlier - I've been away for the last week (sailing and visiting with Jules no less!)

Your own 'positive energy' says a lot. I wish you all the best in your studies and testing. :thumbs_up You can't help but do well.

Just want you to know that I'm rooting for you!

Wyn

Thanks! I am about as ready as I will be at this point.
Am resting today as I have a minor cold.

They start tuesday morning and end thursday afternoon. Glad they are almost over now. I am at the point of study burnout.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes !!

Hi Meresa,

Good luck on your exams. As marine creatures, including dolphins, whales, and mermaids are known to possess great intellegence, I am sure you will do well.

I remember talking with a Dr. Pines, who had been approached by scientists trying to decode whale songs. He discovered that the whales being studied were using FM (Frequency Modulation) to encode their signals. One whale, who he nick-named "Pavarotti" was able to sing a full eight part symphony. Among humans, specially trained "throat-singers" from the Tuva region of Mongolia are able to sing two notes at a time. The edge definitely goes to members of the aquatic realm.
