Hi everyone! My name is Linda and I am a mommy to a special little girl named Kayleigh Nicole (2 years old) who was recently discovered to have CAIS.

I have two sisters who also have CAIS so I was raised with the knowlege that any daughters I might have may also have this condition. I also have another daughter, but she turned out to be okay. I am going to do the testing for her to see if she is a carrier though just so I know. It was strange not knowing all these years until a couple of weeks ago if I was a carrier or not.

Anyway, when I found this site I was so thrilled I almost cried!!! I can't wait to get to know everyone.

Linda,

Hello and welcome to BLO. I'm so glad you found us, it's always good to hear from parents of IS children. The people here are wonderful and full of knowledge, so don't be afraid to ask questions or to reach out for some support for you and your daughter. It sounds like Kayleigh was born to a wonderful mom. I look forward to hearing more from you.

There are a lot of opinions on how children with biological problems should be

treated. In the case of intersex every child has different needs and only you

as a parent can really understand your child because you spend the most

time her. I was very happy with the treatment I got, and I'm thankfull for the

right choices being made for me. Be honest with the doctors and listen very

carefully to all the advice but just remember this, someday when she is much

older she will know what happened to her, and she will know the choices you

made for her when she was to young to have a voice in the matter. Make

carefull choices and you can e-mail me if you need anyone to just listen to

you as make these choices. :nerd:
