Intersex Community Forums | Bodies Like Ours - Trying to get the message out...

I don't know how many of you have knowledge or access to a 'sex advise' column called "Ask Isadora". Locally, it is printed in a free newspaper called the New Haven Advocate. I was reading through it the other week, and saw that the opening reader's question dealt with "intersexual". It was apparently posted by a male, seeking Isadora's commentary about whether or not he was 'gay' for being attracted to these 'intersexuals'.

Her response left a lot of open questions, and did not in any way describe what a true intersexed condition is, or that these 'intersexuals' typically seen on the 'net, are, in actuallity, MtF transsexuals. As such, I felt I had to set the record straight, and e-mailed her a variety of items that I had put together, some of which I've posted in the past.

I'm happy to say that she did post a portion of my e-mail (fortunately without any identifiing info). It was primarily the beginning portion of the item I had sent to 'transhistory.org', and identified the differences between TS/TS vs IS, and had posted a while back here on the forums. (I have yet to figure out how to make a 'url' connection in / between these forums)

I don't know if this column is available online, and I just don't want to take the time to find out. Perhaps this column is in a local paper where you live. Sometimes it's just easier to get and read a real paper, than to search for it online.

Anyway, this info has now been put out there to a large unsuspecting populace - hopefully they will 'Get IT' - and have a better understanding of the true diversity of human sexuallity, along with the actions taken by the medical community to impose the incorrect and limited view of the binary sexual construct as concieved by the judaeo/christian/islamic (monotheistic/patriarchal) culture. (Monotheistic = Monosexual !?)

In a recent column run by The New Haven Advocate, you had a person indicate that they had seen some 'intersexed people' on the 'net', and was wondering if they were 'gay' for their attraction to these people.

I will say right here that the VAST majority of so-called 'intersexed' people seen on the net are truly Transsexual males, taking large amounts of estrogens to achieve a feminine style body. There is nothing inherintly wrong with this, except that they are NOT 'intersexed' people.

True cases of people with an BORN with an Intersex Condition usually result in Surgery being performed on them at a Very early age, usually in infancy, such that they are 'changed' into a 'normal' looking 'male' or 'female', with the vast majority of these MUTILATIONS resulting in a Female Assignment.

And when I say MUTILATION, I mean just that!

You might ask how I know these things. I know because I am a person that was born with an Intersex Condition, and that was Mutilated at about 6 months old!

I hope these items, and the open forums on Bodies Like Ours, opens your eyes and your mind to the vast spectrum of human sexuality as it exists, and as it has existed since the beginning of time. Unfortunately, the American, and general Judeo/Christian view of human sexuallity is an extremely limited one, that refuses to acknowlege this spectrum, and actively seeks to control and hide it's exsistance through sometimes extreme and brutal means.
