If you want to live in that kind of Pollyanna dream world that is your business. But that kind of thinking is dangerous, especially when people like you decide to vote away our individual rights and national sovereignty.
I for one, refuse to go quietly into the night. I bust my hump to get as many valuable skills that I can. (I have a PhD in Nucler Engineering, among other things.) I hammer my Senators and Rep with faxes and phone calls on a weekly if not daily basis; to not give in to this globalization crap. And I vote against socialists like Hillary and AlGore at every turn.
