Not just to be critical, but that is not accurate.
A bucal smear can show presence of bar bodies, which
may indicate a potential XX karyotype, if the percentage of barr bodies is high enough. From there, if the barr bodies percentage is high enough, a blood karyotype will be ordered to make a more definitive determination.
My phenotype 'etc' and blood hormone levels 'were' ambiguous enough, to make them do a bucal smear, and other traits and symptoms later made them test me for chimerism. I wont say what my diagnosis is though, and so please don't ask.
I had to be karyotyped, multiple times over a period of months, and "other medical stuff", to nail down my diagnosis.
Unless I was misinformed, by the white coats, not every chimera displays blakos(sp?) lines also.
