Scars one cannot explain (making sense of things)
The truth is I have a hard time placing this.
Awhile back I doubted being intersex because I had a high sensitivity to DHT, even though puberty was atypical. I realized that androgen insensitivity can at times be selective and not all IS conditions result in this insensitivity. The doubts quiclky went away with actually checking for scar tissue. What I do know though is I have a large scar on the underside of my penis that runs along the entirety and significant, though less apparant scaring on my scrotum. This is not a development line. The scar is significantly wider, about 3 cm if not a little wider at points. This was not corrected completely as there is still distal hypospadias. The scar looks consistant with a grafting scar in some places. I had very little muscle development during puberty. Puberty itself only brought about minor changes (body hair/facial hair). My voice only dropped a little when I was 20 from illness. I have a female carry angle. I had a high arched palette that was corrected during middle school. Also learning disabilities (corrected to some extent) and mild scoliosis. I was also frequently tested for hormone levels until my teen years. Recently free testosterone was in the female range (testosterone the body uses) and total testosterone half of typical male my age. I am transitioning to female, though my therapist stated I had a childhood and adolescence more typical of someone who was intersex as supposed to strictly transsexual. I am trying to make heads or tales what I am, because the medical records from infancy were destroyed. I was an infant when this did happen, because I would have remembered otherwise. Me and my parents are no longer talking, plus they have deliberately hid information from me. Last edited by seldom : 10-04-07 at 02:34 PM. |
