tired of unanswered ?s

hello all sry have not been around in awhile had a health crisis. i neded up with the same probs i had before they started me on hormones my testosterone level went up and health went down then my testosterone went back and now i am fine. but still have not had a dr who is willing to try to find out what is causing my prob or why. i guess they just don't want to tell what is going on i am finding out that drs just don't want to deal with this i have one pushing me to have surgery to stop the production of testosterone but so far i have not done it due to the fact that i still have no answers and do not want to have a surgery until i know that it is my only option. what really confuses me is that they have ever admitted to my testosterone being the prob yet they want me to have this surgery to stop testosterone from being produced. i would eppeciate any help or guidance that anyone can give
thank you

Unhappy I hate that!

I know just how you feel, because I went through the same thing. Even at UCSF, where they spent allot of time, and my insurance money, to satisfy their own curiosity, they made little effort to discover anything outside of their own focus of research.

In fact I discovered that I was merely a guinea pig to them, when this discrepancy came to light. Because I asked about it, and my doctor confirmed that was indeed the case, and that she couldn't investigate anything outside of their little focus. She said that she felt bad about it, but that her hands were tied.

Yes, I know, there are good doctors out there, but there are just too many like the one you have now. I really suggest that you put some real effort into finding one, that is beyond the mediocre norm. I imagine there must be some around. I really don't know though.

As it stands now I only see a doctor in emergencies, if I have no other option, and I would NEVER bring up my IS condition. In fact if they ever did, I would tell them it is NOT an open subject, and just fix my damn whatever I came in for.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I really hope you find someone better.

Well, Charlene, in my case surgery was not the only option. But I got tired of fooling around with the other ones. Of course, I am still messing with my health by continuing to smoke--one of the reasons the doctor would not go all out with ERT and anti-androgens. Prior to surgery the testosterone level did drop with somewhat higher doses of Premarin but that did not help much until the doctor added something else and switched me to an estradiol patch. He said it was because I continued to smoke and he was wasting hormones on me. He also did not think it was safe to boost the ante. Yeah, there are other ways besides surgery which may or may not work.

All the best!
