excerpt from above article:
"San Francisco, where FTMs (female-to-male transsexuals), the intersexed, and the men who love them are more vocal and visible" I don't know if true or not, BUT I've heard that San Fran is not as liberal minded towards (any) transsexuals and transitioning intersexed persons as most would think. "Masculine" gay men especially dislike such. And if there are those men who "love us" then it's a sex-fascination (f**k) only. True love...a real relationship? A rarity, doesn't matter SF or Mississippi. |

I'm still digesting the article but my first reaction is we should all write him letters.

response letter to Dan Savage
Dear Dan,
My name is Betsy Driver and I am a co-founder and executive director of an intersex peer support organization called Bodies Like Ours. Thank-you for finding the courage (finally---hops have a funny way of doing that) to print the letter from MARIO (4/13 Village Voice). While your answer to him was fine for the most, I was a bit dismayed at your suggestion that MARIO wouldn't find love with a gay or bi-guy in Ohio. I think sometimes it's a matter of being honest before the clothes come off. No one likes surprises. Humanity sometimes has a way of surprising us. I used to think the same thing about my queer body. A major difference is that I like to have sex with women; I also thought another woman would never accept another woman that got erections like I do. A magical thing happened though once I became comfortable in my own skin---other woman started to find me attractive because I realized that my queer body WAS attractive. If MARIO plays his cards right, he may also find amazing things happening for him. Either way, please suggest to MARIO that he seek out others like himself as well if you can. At Bodies Like Ours, we have intersex people from Ohio who would probably kill (well, not really) to meet someone like him. I believe some of them even identify as gay males. Betsy Driver Executive Director Bodies Like Ours http://www.bodieslikeours.org PO Box 1732 Easton, PA 18044 610-258-7466 voice 610-258-6631 fax Bodies Like Ours is a 501(c)(3)organization incorporated in NJ and based in Easton, PA. Bodies Like Ours provides peer support for people born with atypical genitalia and helps them erase their shame and secrecy. We are dependent upon your financial support to continue our work. Please consider making a donation today online by visiting our website at http://www.bodieslikeours.org.
