I found this story the other night thru Gwen Smith’s Remembering Our Dead yahoogroup and as I haven’t seen it here I think people on this list should know about it, and I myself am not only outraged that this crime waS committed but I’m not quite the happiest with how The Namibian reported on the story, let me know what y’all think—Cynthya BrianKate
(note that the reporter seens to see the victim as a man even when saying ze was intersex.)

Windhoek - A SEXUAL motive may be behind the fatal stoning of an 18-year-oldperson at Luederitz at the end of last week.A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. The Police, through its spokesperson Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, reported yesterday that it was suspected that Nolan Jansen, who was stoned to death atLuederitz early on Friday morning, might have been the victim of a rape attempt, too.
Amulungu pointed out that Jansen had been male - and not a woman, as had beenreported in yesterday's edition of The Namibian after the Police initiallyreported that the name of the killed person was Noleen Jansen.
Apparently Jansen had been born as a hermaphrodite - having been born with both female and male genitalia - but he grew up as a male, the officer reported. He added that the Police at Luederitz reported that when Jansen's body was discovered at a spot close to the town's soccer stadium, his pants were drawn halfway down his legs, bolstering the suspicion that he may have been the target of a rape attempt.
The 17-year-old arrested in connection with Jansen's murder appeared in theMagistrate's Court at Luederitz yesterday. He was released into the care of his parents, and has to appear in court againon May 23.
