Des

is a known endocrine disruptor, and was given in large quantities to mothers with a history of miscarriage. My mother miscarried before her second pregnancy and took DES for my older sister (1955) and myself (1959). She miscarried before me as well. My sister died of secondary metastatic lymph cancer after successful treatment for acute adult onset leukemia. I believe the only reason I am not presently dying of cancer (I am now 53) is due to the fact that I have CAH. I joined up as a member of DESAction and get their newsletter. I also put in a query about a class action against the manufacturers of DES which has a contact attorney in Washington DC (where I am.) The DES angle may have been a severely complicating factor in why in a family of pretty hirsute women I am practically hairless except for a few spots, which is not the typical presentation of CAH. And when I took the DES profile questionairre on their site, I answered all of the questions in the positive except for the cancer ones, which were considerable, and the pregnancy ones (I have never been pregnant either.) I may never have been fertile.
