Links to Medical Research on CAH with reference to 11-beta
Here are links to documents and pages I have found for those who are diagnosed with 11-beta. Official guidance from Mayo Clinic and NIH advise a low sodium diet, maintenance lab draws of 11-deoxycortisol and 11-deoxycorticosterone - frequent blood pressure checks are not enough.
Mayo Clinic overview of the tests required for CAH due to 11-beta hydroxylase deficiency. http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.c.../Overview/8547 Procedures for diagnosis of 11-beta hydroxylase deficiency: http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.c...erpretive/8547 NIH Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of 11-beta hydroxylase deficiency: Regular measurement of blood pressure should be performed in all patients with CAH and test of serum 11-deoxycortisol or deoxycorticosterone level should be performed in those patients with elevated blood pressure to avoid misdiagnosis of 11 beta-hydroxylase deficiency. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15549155 NIH Pubmed page on diagnosis 11-beta hydroxylase deficient CAH: http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/con...ency#diagnosis |
